Re: Attack! 2018 - confirmation

More in from Bob M, Andy K , Ray Boyles and - rather surprisingly - Vladimir Putin (no relation, apparently - but best get his entry fee off him in advance, just in case.....).

Re: Attack! 2018 - confirmation

Lists in so far from Lynette and Nik. Will be looking over these (and, hopefully, others) at the weekend.

Re: Parameters of "Last Phase"?

That was the crux of the matter, Don - the previous phase had clearly finished before the call (my opponent agreed that), so didn't that mean that the next phase had already started even if we hadn't physically performed any activities related to it? What should we consider actually constitutes "sta...

Parameters of "Last Phase"?

Interesting conundrum came up at the ECW tournament in Oxford last weekend. We had just completed the movement phase when "Last Phase" was called; the next phase would have been firing, but there was nobody in a position to fire (all "shooty" units had either routed or were in melee), so the actual ...

Re: Oxford events for 2018

On behalf of the Wessex contingent (David Egglestone and Patrick & Brendan), thank you for a splendid day's gaming and for all the hard work put in by members of the Oxford club to organise the day. Very much appreciated and we look forward to coming back next year (and maybe doing a little better!).

Re: Oxford events for 2018

So Tom got Patrick's and my army lists then?

Did you mean David Eggleston (who sometimes uses "David of Rowland" for his monicker)? If so, I'll email him - in fact, I'll do it anyway in case it is him.

Re: Attack! 2018 - confirmation

Just to confirm that I will be available to perform the list-checking. However, I probably won't be able to participate as I am definitely not available for one of the two days, and possibly both.

Re: Southern League Southampton 2018...or not?

For various reasons, I haven't played FoGR since the "final update" was published, but I think I'm right in saying that the greater "staying" power of average units has been done away with (which I know was one of your big bugbears), so other than the rules on superior armour (and those regarding ar...

Re: Cavalry vs bayonet musing

I think as various armies abandoned the pike, they were probably a bit nervous initially as to how foot would deal with horse AND of course we are talking about plug bayonets rather than the later socket variety (adopted just after FoGR ends), which means the musket cannot be fired once it is fixed ...
