Re: Restoration British and Regimental guns.

So that's a "yes" to RGs for the Tangiers Garrison? Any time limit, or all the way from 1660-1684?

Can I just interrupt here to ask what advantages an "8-pack" has in shooting/melee, beyond being able to take more casualties before auto-breaking.

Re: Wessex Wargames Society Southampton

Just to add that a triumvirate of Wessex Wargames Society members, alternating as a pair under the name "The Double Ones", managed to come a very creditable last (out of 12 teams) in the Abingdon Doubles last October, snatching a draw from the jaws of victory in the last of our four matches by faili...

Re: MK Campaign 2015

IIRC, the Great Fire of London was initially thought to be part of a Dutch attack.

Email sent (it's Brendan Morrissey, btw). Yes, both from Wessex Wargames Society (we're the one in Colbury, just north of Southampton, not the Winchester "Wessex Wargamers").

Ah, fair enough. Only mentioned it as its life-span extends beyond the 1685 limit.

I like that - add "Tangiers Garrison" option for the Restoration British.

Re: FoG R Southern League 2015 - Oxford Round

I'd like to book two places - one for me and one for David Hewkin, who partnered me at the Abingdon doubles. I think Vespasian 28 (Paul Marsh) might be interested as well (I'm trying to get hold of him this weekend).

Re: Attack! Devizes 18th/19th July - THEME

I have some questions:- 1) Can Allies be used, and if so, do the normal list rules for their use apply where there is no conflict with the tournament regulations? 2) If so, must any tournament maxima/minima - eg Superior/Elite-to-Average/Poor ratios, or foot bases per heavy/medium gun - apply to bot...

Are they still including that? I thought they stopped that section about 10-12 years ago.

Thanks for your thoughts - I'm happy to concede the 6-base thing, having nothing like the experience of the rules that you have.

Thanks also for those two links - took a while to work through them, but some very thought-provoking comments that have helped crystalise my own views.

Re: First thoughts on D&G Bavarian (Later German) army

Actually, my research has suggested that they operated in pairs of squadrons (later described as "divisions" although I'm not sure how common that term was in the 1660-1700 period); however, the point was more that the manpower involved - regardless of operational level - was significantly greater, ...

First thoughts on D&G Bavarian (Later German) army

Entered the BHGS Doubles at Abingdon last weekend. This was my first ever competitive tournament - under any rules - and I chose a Later German army as I've always liked Bavarians (good Catholic boys, nobody else seems to have them, lots of armoured horse (unlike other lists), plus the current Crown...
