A new version : 3.0.6 http://fieldofglory.fr/spip.php?article2 Better and more beautifull  It's very good. I'm wondering about two things. Fistly, can you put in the calculation for the 'page number' to be spanned. For example, if I put in Swords and Scimitars, and put page 6, 7 or 8, I get n...

Quick reference chart says you can lose 2 levels by: if close combat received 2 more hits than inflicted, or seeing freinds break or commander lost, otherwise lose 1 level. So yes seeing a general die will unerve the lads enough to cause a rout. Just a horrible thing when it happens to you. Yes, bu...

My thoughts on the 180 degree turn could be that your rear troops might be less armoured than the front rankers who now have to move up to the new front rank so they have to stay put. Just a thought but I like the system the way it is. No, if the manouver was to be completed it would be a counterma...

Yes, I discussed all this with a friend of mine. I still think it's 'wrong' but justification can be made in any way. There is way too much manouver for a historical battle anyway, and really being able to turn 90 should be taken out of the rules just as much as turn 180. It would be a logistical ni...

Turn 180 and advance

Just a quick one, but what was the reasoning for having troops like 'Drilled Spear' not be able to turn 180 and advance, yet be able to turned 90 and advance? It seems to me (this is with experience on the parade ground as well) that it is far easier to turn a line 180 degrees and advance than it is...

I don't have my rules handly, but from your description I don't think so. You can't do more than a 90 degree wheel in a charge correct? There is also something about not being able to wheel within 1" of the enemy. As I said, without my rules on hand or a bit of a diagram it's kinda difficult to be s...

Army Geography

Hi All, I've been having a look at my wargaming armies, and am amazed when I look at the Geography of the armies that I favour. For instance, the following armies I have an interest in: Bactrian Greek, Hepthalite Huns, and the Ghurids. If we do a brief study of their Geography we find that they are ...

Re: Medium foot in open

Just had this happen today in the event in Manchester never had it before so here goes. The BG next door also disrupted had to test for seeing a general killed through a total six less one went to fragaged. Having also to test for seeing BG route they through a total five therefore braking also. Sh...

Re: Standing Shields (Samurai)/Pavise (Portable Defences)

are "standing shields" portable defences (PD)? in the new Armies of the Dragon book, the Samurai army (Later Heian) includes "Detached Bushi" whom it says are " Detached Followers Fighting Behind Standing Shields" are these models supposed to have "portable defences" that you place and pick up, OR ...

Except they shouldn't have broken as you can only drop one level because you didn't lose the melee by two hits.... However, being Fragmented spearmen against Knights is not pretty and you would probably have broken in the next melee. Yes, very good point. I normally would have picked that up, but I...

Don't get cocky

So, there we were... standing on top of a hill in a perfect defensive posture. At the bottom of said hill stood the pride of the leaderless Crusader knights. Our noble general moved to the front of the formation and taunted the knights to charge our shield wall. "Come on, if you're man enough" he sa...

My opponent rolled for the initial commander loss from melee, missed. Move commanders comes first, then remove autobroken BGs. We played no 10+ roll since there was no pursuit and the general was left in the position ready for the next movement phase... (I'm finding this extremely frustrating to ty...

I'm doing some preliminary checks for MOAB 2010. The way votes are going it looks like it will be a themed comp, although only 5 people have voted so far (myself included). Re: Macedonian/Successor Elephants

This will create a couple of potential problems : 1) You can't go into column 2) When one dies the other must rout twice before being removed You can get round them using dummy bases, but I thought I'd point it out so you are aware. Yes, thqanks Polkovnik, I was aware of the problem, I saw it as li...
