Re: The Great Rebellion Campaign

Have you received this clarification? Having missed out on a battle in Behemoth I am very keen to get this one underway!

Re: Pike and Shot: Campaigns announced!

Sounds brilliant. Can owners of Pike and Shot and Tercio to Salvo just buy an expansion, or do we need to pay full price for a full new game? Product page doesn't make it clear.

Re: Battle of Gravelines -End of Italian Campaign-

After many *many* attempts I managed to "win" this 61/67(!). Got the message about both armies withdrawing, but in this instance it awards you the win. That seemed a somewhat hollow victory so I restored from a save game and randomly clicked on things while on the phone to my mum. Miraculously, this...

Thank you iandavidsmith - otherwise the Royalists would win by default!

Re: The Great Rebellion Campaign

I suspect a lot of people (me included) are not looking for the burden of command. I'd go back to previous CiC's who have been successful! And rather than change it every half year, stick with the same one. The problem does not appear to be a surplus of people who want to be CiC but a defecit. Anyon...

Re: Battle Academy ends!!! What will happen to P&S?

I think once they are routing... they are routing. The trick is to position them so they rout in the least problematical way should they break. It's a pain when the plan does not come to fruition, but the upside is the enemy is just as vulnerable to the meandering rout.

Re: Parliamentarian Cavalry

In my experience they do much better when using the terrain to their advantage - I almost never charge Royalists unless they are in some way disordered - which can happen as a result of the terrain they are standing on. Also remember that that very early Parliamentary cavalry has a ranged capability...

Re: Battle Academy ends!!! What will happen to P&S?

I think what you are missing is that Slitherine don't develop P&S, they just publish it. The relationship between a publisher and a developer is like the relationship between a record company and a band. Slitherine have just turned their in-house musicians into in-house recording engineers... to str...

Re: Flank charge

My recollection is that the one that failed did not *start*from the flank. I have never been sure, but in my experience it does depend on the angle of approach, and the rule cited above seems to cover that.

Re: Behemoth - Campaign Thread

You are the Behemoth guinea pig for this :) It would be really useful if both you and turenne could give feedback about how you think the game played out. Thanks. Well I think it was a tense battle that I could easily have lost if I'd mounted a frontal assault on the fortifications. I played a "reh...

Re: Behemoth - Campaign Thread

Parliament have taken Scarborough 53/25.

Tonight we shall feast on the flesh of donkeys!

Well played Turenne - the first time I have ever played an Attack scenario against a real person. Turns out marching around the fortifications is a wise move!

Re: Battle of Bicocca

Your idea of using quick cavalry to get in the way of the relentless Swiss and weakening the fortification corners worked like a charm. When the Spanish crossed their defences to advance towards us I released the Swiss like a cork from a bottle and we swept to victory 61/7!

Game created. Fiddled around with the custom settings until I got 1200 vs 1200 on a 32x32 grid.
