Re: Rally Modifiers

Maybe fall back instead of routing.
That is an interesting idea-the arrival of new troops into a melee giving a shaken unit the possibility of pulling back out of a melee. With the discrete units of this period, I could see it as historical.

Rally Modifiers

I always try to keep a couple units in a second line ready to react to the battle in the frontline. However if I see a unit starting to crack in the frontline melee, drops to disrupted or fragmented, the last thing I will do is reinforce with units in the second line. If I commit reinforcements, the...

Re: Wars of the Roses Campaign

Of course you have to bear in mind that the FOG WOR army lists are written for FOGAM not FOGR, and FOGAM has a "skilled swordsmen" capability as well as a "swordsmen" capability, so swordsmen capability is not quite so significant in FOGAM as it is in FOGR. It would be perfectly reasonably to repre...

Re: Wars of the Roses Campaign

Perhaps the Militia's Raw quality rating reflects their lack of skill with the sword compared to the other troop types you mention? I might guess that giving militia swords might possibly be related to the war being a Civil War. Lots of militias. The raw status would reduce the impact of swords but...

Re: Wars of the Roses Campaign

I have really enjoyed playing your War of the Roses mod. Great job! Although I am wondering about one point. I noticed that militia longbowmen have the swordsmen special capability. The FOG Storm of Arrows army list also gives them the swordsmen capability. It certainly seems appropriate for tough r...

Re: Heavy Weapons and Bills/Halberds

There is "Light Spear" and "Spearmen" classification. Light spear is the non-cavalry defeating spear. Use that for your medieval spear? The spear is still a good anti-cavalry weapon but maybe just not against the best of the best cavalry or heavy gendarme/knight of the time. You know the late medie...

best LOS to achieve full missile fire

Ok, I just had a situation which has happened many times in the past and I still don't know how to determine best LOS to a tgt. I moved a light cavalry unit with crossbow 2 squares from a target and needed to change direction to get a LOS to the target giving full fire. I could chose two different s...

Re: Heavy Weapons and Bills/Halberds

I do wonder though, how effective the bill was vs cavalry (at impact, assume large formed units) ? The primary use of the bill by the English was vs other English armies which fought primarily dismounted. Later on in th e16th C, more and more pikes were introduced. Sure, a bill might be as long as ...

Re: Heavy Weapons and Bills/Halberds

Thanks. I think I will make that my weekend project. See if I can create a new POA for halberds and mod the heavy weapons to match the sword melee advantage against non-steady pikes/etc.

It really won't make much of a difference for Renaissance except English bills but would for Late Medieval.

Heavy Weapons and Bills/Halberds

I was looking through the POA's recently and was wondering about the Bill/Halberd. The Bill/Halberd is a hybrid weapon which is basically a combination spear and 2 handed axe. It is placed in the heavy weapon category with the 2 handed swords and axes. The heavy weapon category receives no POA advan...

Pike and Shot screenshots?

For some reason, I can't get a screenshot of a Pike and Shot game. I have tried PrintScreen and then paste into Paint and I get a copy of the desktop. I have tried Alt Printscreen and I get a copy of the active internet page. I have also tried ctl and shift printscreen and I still can't get a screen...

extra 45 degree turn during movement

Is it my imagination or am I getting an extra 45 degree turn during movement when I am distant from any enemy units? I am pretty sure that is happening. Anybody notice how close you need to be to enemy troops to lose that extra 45 degree turn? Maybe I missed it but I don't recall any mention in the ...

Re: Next game and computer FOG

We are however, working on using a similar system for earlier periods, using Slitherine's new ARCHON engine, which allows many enhancements.
Yes, very good news! Thanks.

Next game and computer FOG

After reading many of the posts on the forum, I realize that you are working on new games. I also realize you can't announce the next game at this time. Myself, I am really enjoying Pike and Shot, even against the AI, and would love to see new games covering earlier periods of history such as ancien...

Re: Necessary files for War of the Roses?

It appears something went wrong with the copy and paste process. I just redid it and this time everything appears to be working. So thanks and it looks like I am good to go. Great job on the War of the Roses mod. It has a distinctly different battle flow vs later time frames. It seems to me it refle...

Necessary files for War of the Roses?

I play pike and shot on two computers. One is an older computer connected to the internet. My good computer is intentionally not connected to the internet. So I downloaded the War of the Roses Campaign package and everything works fine on my internet connected old computer. Next I found a package of...
