Re: To whoever did mission design for US '42

Hope that changes as campaign goes on...

I am repeating myself, but here is a wonderful mod. The broken English in the briefings just adds to the realism.

Re: Why excellent Polaris lost dull Stellaris

These are all good points. "You have to pay attention" is a charitable way of saying, where was that tanker going anyway?

I can handle the micro, and really enjoy the game up to a certain point. Not sure what could be done. I will try the mods of course after the next patch.

Re: Why excellent Polaris lost dull Stellaris

I am putting Stellaris away until the first patch and dlc. I got it "on sale" for $30, but it's going to cost customers a lot more to get a good AI and many other things. There appears to be a very good and fair review on Steam for the game, and it's depressing. Although the gent says he still enjoy...

Re: Difficulty

Perhaps something in the briefing would help if indeed this situation exists. I'm still losing in the tutorials

Re: Buy or Wait

Yes, great we have the option to buy at Matrix/Slitherine and also get a Steam key if we want. Way OT, but interesting topic running a computer offline all the time. I assume you could download updates from your other computer to external drive, etc. However, you would be "missing" Windows system up...

Is Woods tile WAD in Editor?

Just checking - when I lay a Woods tile, no trees, but is labeled correctly. Thanks. Great editor.

Re: Buy or Wait

Slitherine is getting with the program on discounts. Some games that have been out only three months got discounted. That is unheard of in the past.

So if you can wait 3-6 months, you might get 50% off. It's always a gamble, but for me, I rarely ever wait

Re: Post 103c Patch news?

I would not say Stellaris has fallen on its face. And GreenManGaming is still selling it for $30, which is a very fair price. I have modded Polaris and played it two weeks straight. You really do need to keep track of your ships, tankers, transports, so fighting a 2-3 war front can involve some micr...

FWIW, the AI is now dramatically faster in its turn.

Re: The future of FoG

A quick aside - I have found a good Wargamer review of HPS AW RCW for those who have not bought: http://www.wargamer.com/reviews/roman-civil-wars/ Now back to Don's questions: Has anyone heard any rumors on future plans for Napoleonics / Frederick the Great era development? Is it more likely to be s...

Re: the tactical AI.

Matrix is better than most at upgrading. There are only a few games they have left hung to dry. So there is hope, as it really is one of the best 4x space games right now.

Re: The future of FoG

I have scratched the surface of Pike & Shot. Great AI. But the upcoming Japanese game, the unit names and types will not stick with me, which hurts the immersion.

Re: The future of FoG

Yes, AW does have it all. I downloaded the tutorial demo from the HPS patches page to try the latest version. I have the 2nd and 3rd games on discs. To play the game properly requires a lot of micromanagement. I am okay with Panzer Campaigns and Squad Battles, but AW pushes the envelope for me. A po...

Re: How's the scenario design for OOB Marine?

It is true that history ties the hands of the scenario designer. The Marine campaign was an island slug fest, and that's what we got. Unfortunately, these island battles are rather similar. Hammering away at defenses again and again can get rather tedious (for some). But God help the scenario design...

Re: How's the scenario design for OOB Marine?

Well, they are cranking out the Winter War DLC pretty quick. Maybe they will put some time into better scenario design. The editors and csv file modding are outstanding in both PzC and OOB. I applaud the devs for this. But I also find better scenarios/campaigns from the modders. Hate to repeat this ...

Re: The future of FoG

Interesting to get feedback from a new player. Like many others, I invested significant cash in FoG and all but two expansions. Of course, it's all probably cheaper now for an older game. Just be sure you know what you are getting with that HPS system. If you did get it, I would be surprised or like...

Re: the tactical AI.

I was happy to see the Urgans overwhelm my technologically superior Cruisers and Destroyers with clouds of fighters, gunboats, etc. I have boson guns but now need to build some air superiority strength with carriers. At least there is a semblance of strategy in a game that offers a lot more than tac...

Re: Peleliu how do you win

That's why I was a bit concerned, as it's a lot easier to program a defensive AI, and there have been questions on AI competency. I played one of the original MP scenarios (forgot which one) versus a friend, and it was an awesome experience. I haven't gotten that in SP games, but I guess that's to b...

Re: Peleliu how do you win

After reading some Steam posts, I better master what I have now, as new scenarios seem pretty tricky to win.
