Army List 2 Errors

Just got the book today. A quick glance through but I did notice a couple of errors 1) Foederate Roman, page 54, Equites Mauri: there’s no min-max. Could be anything from 0-4 to 0-12. 2) Carolingian Frankish, page 97, Imperial Retainers and Frankish “Horse Archers”: the maxima total bases for the in...

Re: A lament for Steppes...

The hill was to the Roman right and certainly wasn't the focus In case you're mislaid your Jordanes: "The battle field was a plain rising by a sharp slope to a ridge, which both armies sought to gain; for advantage of position is a great help. The Huns with their forces seized the right side, the R...

Re: A lament for Steppes...

For campaigns that I have put together, I use point to point maps and generate terrain for each each point on the map. Players use those choices for battles in the points (or nodes). Seems to work pretty good. Don't encourage him about campaigns. He's been banging on about that for years.... Would ...

Re: A lament for Steppes...

Fair comment Peter. But then what's the point of listing Steppes at all? It’s useful for campaigns where the campaign determines who is the invader. I’m doing one based on the old DBA simplified campaign system. The winner of the initiative gets to choose the terrain type from the list of the origi...

Re: Campaign Supplement????

I think it just got kept in because it wasn't a bit of text that was the focus of change. There'll be no campaign supplement. So, in v1 there was no text but an intention, in v2 text andintention and in v3 text with no intention. Will we have no text and no intention in v4 - just to complete the se...

Campaign Supplement????

In preparation for a Persian versus Lydian campaign battle I've got set up, I'm reading through the v3 rules to make sure I've got all the changes fresh in my mine; and there it was on page 122, "Obviously the approach differs for historical re-fights, and also for campaigns, which we deal with in o...

Re: Army Lists - Book 2

Plus a wodge of ally only lists. Thanks, Nik, that’s useful to a degree but it’s not so much the armies, as I presumed the ones that interest me - Viking, Norman, Nike Byzantine, Carolingian - would be there, but the details like the minima of required trash, the max of good, but limited, troops, e...

Army Lists - Book 2

Any word when book 2 will be out. I believe the last word was just after Christmas. It would be nice if it were soon given the War & Empire Kickstarter presumably covering the latter part of book 2 ends on 3 March. Handy to have the lists to select figures.

I would suggest that a well written after action report of the battle and details would promote interest and showcase version 3.

Re: Involuntary charging shock troops - formation change

It’s worth clarifying that in the errata. As is it’s a wee bit ambiguous. That's one of the big problems of trying to ensure that a set of rules can be used for competitions. A lot of additional wording has to be added to ensure that what is written cannot be read in some other wat. When I wrote it...

Re: Involuntary charging shock troops - formation change

Page 57 - top of the page (Troops who may Charge without Orders): "They may also drop back a single base if they can only reach the enemy by doing so", which seems to be new for v3. I take that to mean that involuntarily charging shock troops can still contract the battle group's frontage by one ba...

Involuntary charging shock troops - formation change

I'm only now going through the v3 rules and I noted the following with respect to shock troops charging without orders: Page 52 - Formation Changes when Charging: "The only change in formation that is allowed....contract the battle group's frontage by one base if necessary to pass friendly troops,.....

Re: FoG:AM v3 Lost Lists

For neo-babs 2nd “other cav” entry did you mean it as is (all JLS BG) or did you intend 1/2 JLS and half bow/sw?
