Re: Long games?

I'm in a no-refit game right now, on day 2 of the 3rd week. The Axis have advanced as far as a line running roughly from Sidi Omar in the north to Abu Shawahid in the south, exited 1 unit (4 VP), eliminated 7 VP of CW forces, and isolated several pockets of CW forces. The CW have in turn eliminated ...

Re: Long games?

For what it's worth I've played some very enjoyable El Al campaign games. When you're playing with an opponent that matches your pace of play (mine tends to be faster) the length is not as much a challenge. The no-refit games can be very exciting despite the exhausted forces on both sides and the wa...

Re: Long games?

This is a fair question. The three CinC games in my view represent progressively greater realism at some cost in complexity and some loss of playability. BOTB presents an Axis objective which is hard to achieve but still achievable even against a good opponent. DoM adds more realism, complexity, and...

Re: Long games?

I have yet to get to the end of a campaign due to the length, most players drop out before getting close, and I have two in progress that are still nowhere near conclusion. Are you playing random pick-up opponents? I've been able to get through a good number of campaign games, but I'm mostly playin...

Re: Desert Fox: The Battle of El Alamein is Now Available!!!

Does Shenandoah have any plans to organize a Desert Fox tournament?

Re: Turns, days, weeks...

So there are up to 14 days in one cycle, ok. But how many days are in one turn? Also, it seems since the Axis burns supply quickly, the initiative is often with the CW. As long as they keep attacking in their first move, they can keep the Axis out of supply and never go to refit... Each turn is 1da...

Ongoing Crisis in Command League

For those of you who like organized play against skilled opponents, there's an ongoing league over at the Quarter to Three forum. The league is organized into multi-level leagues of 4 or 5 players who play a matched pair of games against each other player in the league over a fixed period of time. T...

Re: Update 2.0.1

I also think it was better when Halder had his magic dice. I think that would be a good AI optional feature for all the CiC games.

Re: Gamecenter integration?

Thanks for the response. I'm sure the issue is with GC rather than DOM, and I understand you can't fix GC. I was just asking if anyone had found a good trick for working around it quickly.

Re: Gamecenter integration?

Often I'll see a flag on GC that there's a move update but no corresponding flag on DOM. Launching DOM does not force a reconnect to GC so the move still doesn't register. If you exit to the main menu, you see no move update flag. If you select play, you see no move update flag. If you go through GC...

Re: AI doesn't play fair

I ran the same test I ran earlier. In 15 attacks on Vladiminskoye, Halder got 14 eliminations and 1 retreat. For 15 attacks against Rokossovsky in Vladiminskoye, I got 10 eliminations and 5 retreats. In 13(*) attacks in Shostka, Halder got 9 eliminations and 4 retreats. In my 15 attacks I got 3 elim...

Re: AI doesn't play fair

I'm confused - I saw a post from Miguel earlier which made it seem you guys were pursuing this as a problem, but this most recent post sounds like you're saying there isn't a problem.

Does Shenandoah have any actual data on combat results? Are the outcomes consistent with the expected results?

Re: AI doesn't play fair

I posted this the other day in the new AI thread: I felt my earlier post here might be unfair - memory is a funny thing & we tend to remember the poor results better than the good ones. So I decided to run some tests on opening planned offensives. Halder's preferred opening offensives are 1) elite a...

Re: Gamecenter integration?

Has anyone found a reliable way to force DOM to reconnect to Game Center? It really is quite maddening to try 5 or 10 times to force a turn update and still not get it.

Re: new AI

I'm afraid I also see hard-to-believe combat results with the new AIs. Let me say first that the new AIs are very good and I've been challenged by them, particularly Halder. But I'm frankly mystified by the fact that the Halder's planned offensives on turn 1 always produce the optimum result - KIA o...

Whiterook, do you want to play a few & see if we can sort it out? Either Meuse or the full game? I'm scottagibson on GC.

Re: Is it Possible for Germans to Win "Race to the Meuse"

Not really, I'd expect stacking limitations. What seems odd to me is that the units in the space can't be practicality replaced, so it seems to be impossible to reinforce any offensive or defensive position, no matter how many other stronger units you have nearby. In fact, you can withdraw the unit...

Gamecenter integration?

The Game Center integration seems fragile in some way. The game takes a long time at launch to log in to Game Center, and seems to lose that connection all the time. The game often doesn't register new turns by online opponents and doesn't seem to reconnect to GC when it had lost that connection. Of...

Re: Is it Possible for Germans to Win "Race to the Meuse"

Is your complaint about stacking limitations? Units adjacent to Bastogne are ~10 km from the center of town, according to the game scale. They really can't impact the battle directly without entering the space, which is subject to stacking limitations. Not really, I'd expect stacking limitations. W...
