While on the subject... There is a discrepancy regards the length of the severe winter in the manual. Under Russian Winter it says "last for 5 to 7 turns" on page 130. Chart in page 134: "Once Severe Winter starts, the chance it will last 6 turns is 70%, 20% of the time the Severe Winter will last 5...

Hi, Searching the manual didn't give any hits, but I recall Stauffenberg has posted a possible reason... lets' see... http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=25032 "The Russians lose 30 efficiency the first turn you attack during fair weather in Russia. It means you have to delay Barbarossa ...

So I propose the following and want you to tell me what you think: 1. Reduce land spotting for winterized units to 50% in winter and severe winter (down from 100%) 2. Reduce all attack values for normal units during winter to 75% (instead of 50%) during winter, but not severe winter. Armor attack r...

Not so sure about air units so it could really be a matter of discussion if the normal winter effects in air units in CEAW-GS should be maintained as it is now with the russians air units having an important advantage in air warfare during winter weather during the rest of the game. BTW, the Soviet...

Printer/Toner Friendly Manual?

Greetings, Trying to get onboard and actually play the game again with GS 2.0. I don't like reading manuals or referencing them during play on the computer screen. Is there any chance of getting a printer friendly(or colour toner friendly to be more precise) version of the manual PDF? No background ...

Hi all, Stauffenberg's advice on the scenario folder seems to help. I removed all the excess files(not that I had tinkered with any of them before) and the game now starts fine and and a game can be started. Thanks! _augustus_ //now if I only could it run nicely in the full screen mode without disto...

C'mon guys, no need for foul language. It's a free update after all! My situation is an GS 2.00 installation over 1.12 Gold version and GS 1.07 on Windows 7. The game is located in D: volume instead of C: volume using the standard path. File named Error.log created in Grand Strategy Mod-folder after...

Hi, First download failed at 33MBs but a second one sized 233 MB (244 733 669 bytes) / 233 MB (244 736 000 bytes) installed just fine. Or fine and fine. For for me the game runs the intro screens of green Slitherine logo and beige the soldiers, but disappears into thin air after that. Oh well

I see you edited the mud part I quoted away from your message. So it might look I'm quoting from thin air for other readers. Anyways hopefully editing means you finally see the different MP costs for armour and mechs, too.

Stauffenberg: This is not exactly how movement is calculated. You pay the same movement cost for each hex. The movement cost is based upon weather and terrain type. In addition you have a vehicle penalty (armor and mech) in certain terrain and weather that's added to the movement cost of such...

Later in the war of course, vehicles such as jeeps, half tracks and rudimentary APCs (eg bren carriers, etc) became available. Is it possible to increase MECH movement points at a certain tech level to reflect this? That will not work because the game engine is such that MECH and ARM use different ...

Hi,

I can't just load up a battle and check what was it like. Or can one do that somehow?

If you describe the map, the situation and the mission a little more I might remember how I got through the said battle.

Cheers,

Re: What factors actually affect Max Labs / Focus points?

Hi - as far as I'm aware Industry tech level has an influence on Max (total) Labs, but there also seems to be a relationship to actual industrial production level (PPs?) Somewhere in a dark corner of my memory I have this formula lurking. Actual PP output from a city=(City's production number)*2*(W...

Thanks, could someone also confirm whether its true that (in GS 1.07 at least) control of Tunis counts for 10 supply in North Africa for the Axis, not just 2 like most North African ports? A GS v2.00 change is that the German corps in Finland is removed and will spawn in northern Finland if Norway or Sweden are Axis controlled. That unit simulates the German corps in northern Finland that came from Norway. Interesting. Makes historical sense in a way. Gamplaywise an Axis strategy tha...

Hi, Also what's missing from the Axis northern strategy in the game is the possibility to take over the two most important lend lease ports, Murmansk and Arkhangelsk, by attacking from Finnish territoty and reducing lend lease going to Soviets that way. Yes, makes all perfect sense. But the assumption was(from joerock's post) that the Allies would not have the range to reach the resource hexes or the airbases in those hexes at this point of the war with FTRs. You could switch the the Axis air units in those hexes to sentry, hence limit the damage t...
