P21 - I think the POAs haven't been revised to take account of the Lt Spear? 2 line entires in my table? What do you think is missing? I think Pete was referring to the combat example diagram on that page. Yes? Don't worry Pete, all the diagrams are being completely redone from scratch. P40 - Broke...

Re: Light Foot

I'm not as widely read as many testers but did skirmishers ever significantly affect the outcome of a battle? Pete Very very few - for foot skirmishers as opposed to mounted ones who were often decisive :) As one example of foot skirmishers having a decisive effect in a historical battle, Magnesia ...

Re: Base sizes

Hmm, I cannot complain here about fitting figures on the bases. Playing DBM/DBR/DBA in both 25/28 and 15mm with our group in RI , USA we have close to 60 different armies amongst us- only problems arize with double based Kn - that might be a bit hard to fit in. I have Teutonic Knights made out of B...

Re: Misceallenous after game questions

Can an isolated general do a second move in the movement phase? At present yes. We have not yet decided whether the "complication" of not allowing it is worthwhile. Note that it is already quicker and can move in the interbound, so the extra movement is not necessary. But must he be attached to a B...

Even with the new points chart Don? Knights too?

Re: Forthcoming changes before Usk tournament

2) Cataphracts fight with 1 dice in melee. (Thus need to be 2 deep). Does this mean that Cataphracts as a separate troop type can disappear? They are now Heavily Armoured Cavalry and the slower movement rate is probably spurious IMO ... We considered this, but felt we wanted to keep them separate 1...

Bear in mind that the elephants have a longer move than the legionaries, so mostly should be able to charge the legionaries before they can be charged by them.

Re: Don & Steve game three

One thing I noticed with the change in points, was that the Sassanid and Alexandrians we have been using only went a few points over, were as the Selucid I used went 30+ points over. Most of that extra should disappear with the proposed cataphract rules and points revision - see Forthcoming changes...

The list should not allow the archers to be in BGs of 4. (According to the usual list policy). If its just a list design oversight then OK... Yes it is. but there will still be lists that can have a few small units of 4 LF. The question is whether it is enough of a problem to be worth complicating ...

Forthcoming changes before Usk tournament

Now that you should all have 4.04, including the new points system, here are some additional forthcoming changes which will (probably/possibly) go in before the version for the tournament at Usk is finalised, and which might affect your army choice. 1) Extra impact phase dice for rear rank "shooters...

This is true. I look forward to seeing how everyone else structures their army, and uses it. Usk will be interesting. I'd hate to see a half dozen , 4 stand BG LI (~90pts) ,(+6 units), used just to bump up the army size and hide in terrain Simon If you can find a list that allows such a thing, let ...

It came about when light cavalry charged (maybe rashly) into a lot of Thracian peltasts.. They ended up on a + being mounted VS medium open. They threw well, and won - the Thracians then threw low and disrupted. However, in the following rounds. With exta ranks and overlaps the Thracians chopped up...

You might be spending game time on analysis but I'd be much happier hearing that you lot were finishing games in under three hours. Well Simon and Terry usually do. I am a bit slower. However, the point is that it is not necessary to "finish" a game in the sense of completely breaking the opposing ...
