Re: [Suggestion] Shorter astronaut advanced training session

I don't see why the 3 employee groups all have different training times. They should all be the same. 1 season is three months, logically this is long enough to get an improvement in someone's ability in something, however this would be too quick for the game as you'd put someone in today and they'd...

[Suggestions] variable prestige, overlapping goals & buildin

Prestige accrued from achievements, whether general as in sandbox, or specific as in campaign mode, could be variable - the sooner you achieve something, the more prestige you get, the later the less. This is not so important in national campaign play, where the pressure of "firsts" with a...

[bug] Vostok duration II

...has a reliability penalisation from not having done Mercury orbital flight.

As does the Vostok joint launch and orbital flight.

I've already done Vostok suborbital, orbital and duration I.

Re: BSOD - Last leg of Explorer Mission

Mine isn't installed in that address, nor is there a MatrixGames or BASPM folder anywhere on my system. The game is in Program Files (x86) \ Slitherine \ Buzz Aldrin's Space Program Manager. Amongst all those folders and files I can find no saved games. The fault has been reproduced by me 3 times on...

Re: BSOD - Last leg of Explorer Mission

I am getting the same issue, and have got it using both 7.21 and 7.22. More specifically, I get it when I go to "go straight to outcome" in the Explorer missions. It doesn't happen with the X-15, I don't know about other missions since I haven't got past the BSOD. I can't find where the th...

Re: Suggestion - Alternate History.

I would have thought the X-15/PKA would make the Mercury/Vostok start with a higher reliability. Remember that they were not even sure if a human could survive in a vacuum and without the Van Allen belts protecting us from solar radiation. By sending a craft 100km up, you're learning how to keep a c...

Re: Developers: On an related note

I had a copy of it, lost during a time when I was homeless.

Basically it was BARIS. Main difference was that as well as US and SU, you could play Europe or Asia. Historical? No. But fun.

[BUG] name label / status label

When hiring employees, in the list of candidates we see "Name Label" where their name should be, and "Status Label" where their assignment etc would normally be if they weren't candidates. Their names appear in the news in the next season as "The following employees were hir...

Re: Catastrophic missions

As I understand it, the only in-game effect of Morale is that if it drops low, they might resign. Historically, how many people resigned after a failed or catastrophic mission? Maybe one or two if they were taking the blame, but those were in effect dismissals. Everyone else was less likely to quit ...

Re: Feedback wanted: personnel management screen

That looks good, I would just have the "send to training" and "dismiss" buttons be separate and not right next to each-other. Already with the "launch" and "cancel" for missions, sometimes we'll accidentally cancel. There can be an "are you sure" dia...

Re: SPM v. 0.7.18 is now available

Failed, "network error", three attempts same result - died 702Mb into it.

If it's a small update could it not be released as a patch, rather than the whole 750+Mb of it?

Re: Catastrophic missions

It does seem that way, yes. With the current money there's simply no way to run as many programmes as were run historically. A single failure will set you back a couple of seasons, 2-3 failures will set you back years. On the other hand, in the sandbox game at least, achieving the prestige targets i...

Re: Catastrophic missions

That's simply a result of statistics, basically the more times you roll the dice the more likely you are to fail. If there are two steps to a process each with a 90% success rate, the chances of both steps succeeding are 0.9 x 0.9 = 0.81. That is, the chance of something failing is 19%. Many of the ...

It happens to me too, and also at random times - when I hit the "end season" button. BLINK goes the screen, back to the main page.

Catastrophic missions

These need to have a greater reliability penalisation. Currently I'm playing through the NASA sandbox and using Gemini, which has been deadly, it's killed 8 astronauts on 4 separate missions. I launch with Gemini reliability 90+%, and when they get killed I only lose 1-3% reliability. Thus I can try...

Scientist skills

This may be too big an overhaul at this stage, but here are my thoughts. Firstly, the "EVA suits" skill is not really of equal use to the other skills. There are basically only two EVA suits to ever make - Gemini/Voshkod and Lunar. Compare with how many different Space Probes, Rockets and ...

I must say I'm not sure I fully understand. Could you make a schema, drawing or something like that ? Re: Advanced Training and more

I agree that planning the advanced training of everyone can become a bit daunting when you have a lot of personnel in your agency, but I don't see an easy solution. They could be presented as a table. So instead of the big list of guys to the right and then the highlighted one on the upper left, yo...

"problem solved" ---> +reliability & whiney nauts

If a problem with a particular system appears during a mission and is solved by mission control, it seems reasonable that the reliability of that system will increase after the fully successful mission. This is after historically why they didn't just start Apollo and the LEM in 1957, they needed to ...

Re: [bug] Gemini Lunar available but not available

The prerequisite missions need some work, if A helps B and C both and you just do B straight away successfully, the system should not complain that you have not done A. For example, unmanned lunar flyby allows lunar impactor, and lunar flyby allows lunar orbiter. I went straight to the Ranger 4 luna...
