Re: BA crash

Post by parakleta » Sat Jun 29, 2013 6:34 am

The crashing problem was only occasional on the smaller maps (i.e. desert fort) but anything larger and it crashes every single time. How do I get the log that you are after? I develop software for a living so I know how painful finding memory issues can be, and sympathise with your plight. Are there any tools you can analyse the software with? I'm happy to run a debug version if that will help you collect more information.

The reboot fixable crash seems to be a problem for many developers, I have quite a few apps that do it, but it must not be insurmountable because the new XCOM game is massive and it always loads successfully.

If you could look under Settings->About->Diagnositics and Usage and see if there are any logs there and post them here that might help.

Cheers

If anyone having crash issues would like to join the current beta programme to help us try and track down these issues then it could be very helpful in solving it.

Just reply in this thread and I will PM details as needed.

Cheers

Thanks for the report! Are you running jailbroken? It looks like Backboard is using a ton of resources (nearly as much as the game!) and I imagine that daemon level tasks get priority for the memory.

Cheers

Yes, my bad - there is a Jailbreak background manager called Backboard, but the task I was looking at is Backboardd :).

I will have to keep looking for something that sticks out, but nothing obvious... I made some changes for the next update which seem to be making a difference, so fingers crossed (or you could join the beta and we can see if it helps in your case).

Cheers

What is the model and OS version of your iPad?

If you would like to be added to the beta so you can help us tell whether the changes we are making are working (because as I have said, we cannot repeat these issues on any of our devices) then please let me know.

Cheers

Hello All,

A bit of good news (knock on wood)... Ever since upgrading to IOS 7 BA does not crash any longer during replays etc. I still don't type any messages during play - do not want to temp faith. I've played probably upwards of 20 MP turns without an incident. All single player games work without a hitch.

This includes being interrupted with FaceTime etc. I'm thinking that IOS 7 is now managing resources much better then it did before in regards to a requirement that BA needed. Definently made my situtation much better.

Just wanted to let you know. :)

Now bring on PC and BA2!

When I first started playing BA I had locationholic on my ipad - which is a gps spoofer, BA crashed a lot - resetting back to desktop type thing, but a lot of my apps did the same, when I remove the GPS spoofer all problems went away.

Just thought I'd add this in case you are using spoofers.
