unable to play BA multi plater

BA runs okat in campaigns but will not open in multiplayer. System will let me log on but when I go to multiplayer I get the message>
Connecting to game server
select cancel and disable on line display.

of course when I clik on rex X. it disables on line play.
Any ideas/ I am thinking about dumping the game and buying new, it is a good game. This started back a couple weeks ago when Slith was having game system problems. Everything came back except BA

Check that a firewall is not interfering. It also may take a few moments to login so you should not click X without giving it considerable time to connect.

Note though that if you did buy second hand and the prior user registered for MP you will not be able to play.
