We hope you do well with this event on the 11th July. We, at Sutton-In Ashfield will also be running an open 15mm event on the 4th July, as part of a double header with WAB1.5. I hope that players are looking for as many games as possible following lockdown, and I accept that Some will choose only to play once in two weeks, but I look forward to seeing anyone that wants to come to Sutton-In-Ashfield as well. I will put up a second thread for the SIA event.

Good luck to everyone in the Oxford event!

Trev, thanks. As you say I hope all continues well with the roadmap. I am sure lots of people will want to get back in action. We have a limit on numbers unfortunately.

Looking forward to the Italian Wars one that I can make on Sep 12th.

If any Oxford players want to come up to Sutton in Ashfield they will be made very welcome.

Tom

I am just thinking about the round 3 and 4 period suggestions:-

October 10: Eastern front, Turks and any army they fought, any date
December 12: Northern mists, any army any date that has a Baltic coast.

Do you have a list of qualifying armies for these?

regards

Gosh, that would make me do some research. I had planned to let everyone else do the work and merely reject anything inappropriate! I think the definitions are pretty clear so I am sure there will be no problem.

I expect I shall go for a Turk or Eastern Hapsburg and perhaps Prussian.

thanks Tom

I was thinking about Ottomans or Eastern Hapsburgs or possibly Poles for the Eastern Front round as I have all 3 armies.

The Poles could also be used for the Northern Mists, or I could use my TYW Swedes; but there seems to be a very wide choice across the Army Lists/time periods - maybe it could be any Baltic coast army from the Clash of Empires only, (to keep the opponents more closely matched?). This would limit it to the following:-

EARLY RUSSIAN 1494-1630
EARLY POLISH 1494-1576
EARLY LITHUANIAN 1494-1530
KALMAR UNION 1494-1523
EARLY DANISH 1524-1610
VASA SWEDISH 1523-1617
POLISH-LITHUANIAN COMMONWEALTH 1576-1631
EARLY GUSTAVAN SWEDISH 1617-1630

And maybe exclude the last 2 to keep the armies even more comparable?

Thoughts?

Any other views on this? Should we narrow the lists forNorthern Mists down as suggested?

Hi Tom,

I'm interested in the ECW event but for a variety of reasons (firstly that I had a rather bad bout of Covid and, at the moment at least, have some mobility problems and secondly that I can no longer get into or out of my car as it is too low!) so if you could put me down as a possible that would be great but it does depend on me either being able to get into (or more importantly actually out of) my car or buying a new car by the 11th July!

Cheers,

Geoff,

Hope better soon. Trade in the Maserati I guess.

I have you down for a place for now. If I run out I shall come back to you to check.

Thanks Tom, by all means come back to me if you run out of places. I'll need to change my car by October anyway as it isn't compliant with the extended ultra low emission zone in London and I'd have to pay £15 every time I drive it if I keep it past then! I should know by the middle of June if I'll be able to make it hopefully.

Cheers,

Geoff

Disappointed not to now be able to make the first date (11 July) of the new campaigning season....currently able to make the other 3. Hopefully someone can take the slot. David (B)

Hi Tom,

I'm afraid I won't be able to make it either, I think it is very unlikely I'll be recovered enough to travel and play three games. Hoping to make it to the next one though!

Dear both,

No worries. In any case, following Boris' announcement today, I am assuming that our club meetings at least until july 19 will have to be reduced to 6 attendees. Clearly these should be our regular club members and so we shall have to cancel our July 11 FOGR event.

Our plan is to reduce to just 3 events this year. We want to keep our ECW event but are open to persuasion on which of the other themes to drop. Present thinking is to drop the Eastern front event so that the new schedule will be:-
September 12: ECW , Confederate Irish, Early Royalist, Later Royalist, Scots Royalist, Parliamentarian, New Model Army, Scots Covenanter
October 10: Italian Wars 1494 to 1550, Maximilian, French, Spanish, Italian, Venetian, all Italian options only
December 12: Northern mists, any army any date that has a Baltic coast.

Any views?

Please let me know if you can come to these events as now listed.

I guess that was to be expected! I agree to keep the ECW session, but would prefer to see Eastern Front retained in preference to Northern Mists (unless we can narrow the army lists as per my previous posts on the topic in this thread). thanks David (B)
