Re: Roll Call 16th/17th June 2012 - Last charge of the Genda
A great weekend and a very big thanks to all the organisers and my opponents. 4 cracking games though the Milanese were not great as I didn't take enough fighting troops in 13 BG's. Saturday's games were very close hard fights though I just lost to Allan's Milanese (9-11) then made a few errors to lose to Martin v. Tol's Carol.Imps (9-16). Sunday's games were against strong foot armies with a draw against Charles Masefield's Carol. Imps (11-9) and a loss versus Don's English (7-13). Wish one of my flank march Gendarmes hadn't straggled against the Don as that would have been interesting! Onward to Britcon for a completely different and probably stupid army......
Cheers
Richard

Thanks I also contributed to Alasdairs treasure trove of points! There was a certain amount of submarining on my part - Alasdair slapped me down so hard in the first round that like a cork I was bound to bob a good way up again!madaxeman wrote:Glad to say I contributed handsomely to the top 2 scoresquackstheking wrote:Let me be the first to post the 1, 2, 3 for the weekend -

Any news of when the results may be posted?
I know Henry didn't come last but I'm still locked in the Tower and threatened with beheading and unspeakable torture if I didn't make at least 12th!!
Don
p.s. I know that me without a head will improve the looks before some wit says so!!!!

Yes!!! 11th - avoided last place!
Henry has agreed I may keep my head and I should be released from the Tower shortly. Apparently I have to do some retraining as my Report Card reads "Must do better"!
The Henricians were a tough army for others to beat (except the Swiss against whom 'enry has no defence!) but they found it hard to craft a decent win unless others were prepared to impale themselves on my Bill and Bow - unfortunately none of my opponents were that obliging!! I think I'll retire Henry from the competition circuit unless it is a tightly defined theme - he has no answer to the mainly horsey armies currently in "vogue" (thanks Alasdair!!!).

Re: Roll Call 16th/17th June 2012 - Last charge of the Genda
After a rather overambitious start, I clearly managed to show a steady and consistent improvement over the course of my next 3 games.
Provided I stick with the Ottomans and contineu to improve, I reckon that given another four or five "4-round" tournaments I can hopefully look forward to being in a position to challenge for one of the top places.
