Southern League London Round

Post by Paulkit0 » Fri Jan 08, 2016 3:57 pm

I'd posted a few times on this in `any other Southern league rounds'. We've now looked at how viable this is and we now have reliable use of our venue when required on a Sunday with plenty of notice.

I have posted this to our website http://www.ilfordwargamesgroup.co.uk, and rather than repeating the blurb on venue etc. here I'll develop it there.

headlines are.

Date 31-7
Three games
Duty & Glory + late Turks. 1660-1688.
Usual restrictions on artillery numbers (1 gun for every 6 elements of battle infantry with no deployment being able to shoot into flank sectors
Pre-set terrain
3 games @ 800 point.
Cost as per website - (to be confirmed as we have not yet formally approached the local `catering').

My email is on the website for anyone who would prefer to communicate that way.

Regards

Paul K

15mm. It'll mean I can lend out several armies to club members who are interested but have not played in a comp before.

Thanks for all responses so far - that by my calculation makes 7 at this stage - likely 5 or 6 from the club - already a viable day :-)

Why the end date of 1688?

Mainly to limit the number of armies with all musket / bayonet options.

And the original intent was the end of King James 2n'd reign.

This would then take out the Anglo-Dutch list for the League of Augsberg, the Jacobite Irish list and the Scots Jacobites? That only leaves me with the French (which I suspect most would then go for!)

Being picky...
The Glorious Revolution was 1688, the Battle of Reading was fought by Williamite Anglo-Dutch in that year.

So you can't have James in Ireland, but you can have William! ;)

Certain Jacobites might suggest that 1690 (Battle of the Boyne) or 1701 would then be more appropriate end dates...

(I will get my coat...)
