Not good for me FWIW. I really only have western armies. But that is just me.

I'm pretty sure lent is later in the year. Or am I thinking of advent?

I really don’t mind the theme, we just need the players!

If I have an army that fits whatever theme is chosen then I'll be there.

Mind you, on the Far East I note that there is the Colonial Dutch which would no doubt suit my European foot - so maybe that idea is OK for me after all; not too bothered how bad the army might be

Whether I have enough figures for it is another matter though - some painting may be in order

Whatever it is, someone needs to take a call on the theme details and points, and offer to check/umpire.

Once that’s done I’ll try and get Mike to speak to Firestorm to add it as an option

I think we're still at the "is it viable" stage, seeing if it is worth getting it on the schedule. Is there a cut off date for getting it on?

Getting hold of Mike, and encouraging him to get hold of a Firestorm is akin to using a Ouija board to contact Frank Sinatra to as him to speak to Elvis. I’d suggest just setting a theme and hoping it gets posted on the booking form page before the event takes place...

Here are two possible themes for Godendag 2018.
Theme - Out of Africa (1500 AD to 1700 AD)

The army can be selected from any of the following: -
Desert Bedouin (only in Africa) – (CofC)
Ethiopian – (CofC)
Zanj – (CofC)
Horn of Africa – (CofC)
Colonial Portuguese – (CofC)
Oromo – (CofG)
West Sudanese (CofG)
Central African (CofG)
Central Sudanese (CofG)
Funj or Fur (CofG)
West African Forest (CofG)
Mossi (CofG)
Tuareg (CofG)

European and Ottoman Allies will be allowed in addition to local allies.

Theme – Takeaway or Martial Arts (1500AD to 1700AD)

The army can be selected from any of the following: -
Ming Chinese
Korean
Japanese
Ikko Ikki
Mongol
Tibetan
Muslim Indian
Hindu Indian
Indonesian or Malaccan
Thai, Burmese and Khmer
Vietnamese
Mughal
Wokou Priates
Jurchen, Later Jin and Qing
Maratha

European Allies will be allowed in addition to local allies.

In both cases I have left the points total at 900 points. If that is felt to be to high then you could go with 850 or 800 points.

In the Far East theme an option might be to drop the Japanese and Ikko Ikki if they are considered to powerful and just have it as the mainland of the Far East.

Having received a number of comments I am proposing that the theme for Godendag 2018 should be the Far East with the inclusion of the Colonial Dutch but with a cut of date of 1690 AD. That will mean the Colonial Dutch do not have bayonets or 5 + 1 pike and shot units. Having the Colonial Dutch means that those players only with European armies can take part.

Theme – Takeaway or Martial Arts (1500AD to 1690AD)

The army can be selected from any of the following: -
Ming Chinese
Korean
Japanese
Ikko Ikki
Mongol
Tibetan
Muslim Indian
Hindu Indian
Indonesian or Malaccan
Thai, Burmese and Khmer
Vietnamese
Mughal
Wokou Priates
Jurchen, Later Jin and Qing
Colonial Portugese
Colonial Dutch
Maratha

European Allies will be allowed in addition to local allies.

The Firestorm Website seems to suggest only two players have booked for Godendag 2018.

So where are the other players? I thought that a number of you wanted this competition. Whilst I can not come I would like it to still be there in 2019.

So lets see more of you book.

Sorry, but I shall be unavailable this year; I was intending to take part as a "single" (as both my regular competition partners were unavailable), but can no longer make this weekend.
