Despite coming bottom and taking home the "booby prize" of the remaining milk, a thoroughly enoyable afternoons gaming and banter! Remind me (and Paddy) not to bring Ottomans again (or as Paddy said "I've brought a banana to a gun fight!"). Onwards to Attack! @ Devizes!

It is damn difficult to kill 12 elephants in a game.

Very difficult indeed.... what with the +1 on death tests, the fact they are at + POA to pretty much everything in all rounds of combat - and once you add in Generals attached (rallying them up each turn) it kinda felt like you needed either to ping them with artillery as otherwise you'd then have to do 4 hits on a 2-base frontage, probably at negative POA's, to have any chance of taking the dammed things down at all!

Were we ever to reopen the pandoras box, a "they can't be rallied" rules tweak, or a strange counterintuitive idea that they might actually become less effective were they in 3's might be on the table for discussion...

Tim I didn't see your army list, but I assumed you picked the Chinese because of the light spear bonus that made you equal to elephants in the first round? Also the heavy weapon armed troops are equal in the melee.

I fought three spearmen heavy armies and while up in the impact, I was equal in the melee. I was lucky in the first two games with death rolls, but a series of 1's in the last game cost me 8 elephants.

Currently Cavalry on making a CMT and if in a line, ie one deep, can make a 180 degree turn, move up to 2MU and then make a 180 degree turn to face the original way.

I will also allow them to do the following (As its less movement than the CMT gives them and seems strange they have to do the second turn if not required)

Move up to 2 MU and then make a 180 degree turn.
Make a 180 degree turn and move up to 2 MU.
Hi chaps,
Noticed this amendment which seems eminently sensible, although not official, as it does deal with a common problem for cavalry. How has it played out as we are thinking of testing it at the Wessex?
