Re: Oxford 1 Day Event - 11 October 2020
All,
DRAW follows for the first round of the event. In my earlier post I made some silly comments about Round Robins which are clearly not appropriate with 6 players and 3 games!
Also the draw is subject to adjustment should Steve decide to use other than his favourite 1644 Parliament. As a very welcome latecomer filling a void I am sure that he can make this decision as late as he likes!
The draw is constructed so that I shall not have to play Paddy in the first round and we go with similar dates armies together and keep Parliament and Royalist apart.
Round 1
Paddy Scots Royalist versus Steve Parliament 1644 (I assume?)
Tom New Model versus Dene Confederate Irish
Keith Parliament 1643 versus Ray Cornish

Re: Oxford 1 Day Event - 11 October 2020
Tom if you are keeping you and Paddy apart you should keep Keith and Ray apart as well. And Steve and Dean apart as same clubs as well, and keep Royalist v Parliament
So I would suggest
Dene v Keith or Tom
Paddy v Steve or Keith
Ray v Paddy or Tom
So once you choose who Dene plays the rest will fall out.

Re: Oxford 1 Day Event - 11 October 2020
I just got a list from Steve - thanks.
Turns out he is Royalist rather than Parliament. So I took a look at the Draw but can see no way of avoiding an internecine struggle in round 1. One might argue that we do not worry about this in subsequent rounds so why should we in the first?
Accordingly I propose no change in the draw.

Good logical rationale Tom. You have little le-way with these small sub-group numbers.tjelsworth wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 5:11 pm I just got a list from Steve - thanks.

Results of round 1
Ray Boyle 58
Paddy Bray 57
Dene Green 50
Keith Spedding 22
Steve Holt 21
Tom Elsworth 7
Well done the top 3 who go through to the play offs in December.
So far we have two tickets sold for round 2 in November. So four more please. If we do not get four new players I shall then open it up to those who were in round 1.
The Play offs in December could be ECW again but it has been suggested that we make it open 15mm. Wha5 does everyon3 think? Seems reasonable to me as everyone there will already have suffered an ECW event and 9ne per year may be enough.
Thoughts please.

Congratulations Ray, Paddy and Dene for qualifying for the finals. I am really looking forward to my heat with David, and whoever else signs up, or returns from round 1!
Re: Oxford 1 Day Event - 11 October 2020
Likewise Trev; and a potential 2nd bite of the cherry for Keith, Steve or Tom!

Many thanks to Tom & Paddy for being excellent OW club hosts. I would be very happy if you made the Dec finals open15mm.
Re: Oxford 1 Day Event - 11 October 2020
Happy to make finals open (whether I get there or not is a different matter)! Would like to have a second chance in November if there are no new entries

Any more views on December round being open?

I'm also happy to go OPEN for the Finals (if I make it that far!) as it seemed to work pretty well @ Trev's recent bash at Polly Bowls (despite my initial reservations about the potential match-ups)! David (B)

Ditto. Games are games and an opportunity for more should not be sniffed at. Just glad I'm in tier 1, and can still come (at the moment).
