Re: Campaign 2020 Milton Keynes 2 & 3 May 2020
FoGR at Campaign 2020 at Milton Keynes will again be 25mm ‘Big Toys’ with individual entries.
* Date: Sat 2 & Sun 3 May 2020. Venue: Middleton Hall, centre:mk, Milton Keynes
* List checker will be me <ray_boyles@hotmail.com>. Lists are required by 12th April 2019
* 700 Points in 25mm open, i.e. any list at any date.
* Table size 6' x 4'
* Medium & Heavy artillery must not be deployed able to fire into the flank zones.
* Distances 40mm per MU apart from 12" flank zones, initial deployment zones and terrain sizes
* We will use all amendments and Army list/points revisions published to date. In addition, after discussions on possible revisions during 2010, we will trial these two specific army amendments:
1) Swedish salvo muskets may not fire at long range but their regimental guns may still fire at 6MU.
2) Japanese teppo troops from 1592 may class ‘arquebus’ as musket if the respective points cost is paid. All or none.
* 4 games each of 3 hours
* Timetable
Last year well over half the competitors expressed a preference for only 2 games on the Saturday. So:
Saturday
09.00 – Show opens to the public.
09.30 – First competition round.
14.00 – Second competition round.
18.00 – Show closes for public access.
Sunday
09.00 – Third competition round.
11.00 – Show opens to the public.
13.00 – Fourth competition round.
16.30 – Show closes. Prize giving.
Entry fee is £25 per player payable by cheque to MKWS posted to Neil Sutherland at 7 Horton Gate, Gifford Park, Milton Keynes MK14 5JQ. If anyone has a real problem with a cheque, there is an option of Paypal to Will Denham at <madlemmey@hotmail.com> making it clear for which event.
When you do enter please let me know via email or on the forum.
Thanks
Ray

Re: Campaign 2020 Milton Keynes 2 & 3 May 2020
The Campaign website is still silent on the status of the 2020 event. I have recently emailed Neil Sutherland on this but have not yet had a reply. So I am grateful to Chris Beesley who as spotted this link on the MKWS site: http://mkws.org.uk/index.php?id=215
"MKWS Meetings on hold: Unfortunately due to the Coronavirus, York House will be closed to all user groups. Therefore Thursday night MKWS meetings will be cancelled until further notice.
Campaign 2020, due to take place on 2nd & 3rd May 2020 in Middleton Hall the Centre MK has also been cancelled this year due to the virus outbreak."
I have mailed this to the 10 FoGR entrants that I am aware of. I am assuming that Neil will return our cheques but will keep you posted when I do hear back from him. Anyone with accommodation booked should look to a refund or postponing the date.
Stay safe and get those new armies painted for next year.
Regards
Ray

Re: Campaign 2020 Milton Keynes 2 & 3 May 2020
Campaign Facebook page has just posted that it will be a 'change of date' to 17 & 18 October 2020
Re: Campaign 2020 Milton Keynes 2 & 3 May 2020
So I saw. Lets hope players can cover both weeks as the Oxford event is the Sunday before!
Think it might be a bit early though to announce another date - we have a lot to get through before these places will open up again.

Are the entry fee cheques for this one being returned, or have they been destroyed?

Just noticed that the date was changed to 17/18 Oct, however is there ANY likelihood of it going ahead?

Re: Campaign 2020 Milton Keynes 2 & 3 May 2020
Hi Trevor
No idea at this stage, but it is a 25mm not 15mm event for FOG-R so I don't usually go, but with so many conventions already cancelled this year, I might feel the need to get along for the Traders and rubbing shoulders with fellow enthusiasts, although, as you noted, the OWS 25mm ECW event is scheduled for 11 Oct!
Been a bit quieter event than usual on this forum! Hope you are keeping well and finding ways to keep up the hobby - I have spent a lot of time sorting my lead out and using eBAY extensively to free up space and funds and re-basing much of my older renaissance period stock that I want to keep to FOG-R 40mm frontage bases.
regards
David

Re: Campaign 2020 Milton Keynes 2 & 3 May 2020
Thanks David, had a couple of socially distanced games with opposition from the Mansfield area. May be able to bring them along when everything improves.
Re: Campaign 2020 Milton Keynes 2 & 3 May 2020
Be good to get those new colleagues gaming FOG_R (when we can). Intrigued how exactly you managed to set up for the socially distanced wargaming sessions? David (B)
Re: Campaign 2020 Milton Keynes 2 & 3 May 2020
Wargames room is attached but seperate to the house. 4' wide table + seating positions give a good 2m. Doors at each end left open so no need to push past opposition. Probably technically not legal, but we all need to assess our own risks as this is here to stay for a long long time.
Re: Campaign 2020 Milton Keynes 2 & 3 May 2020
Sounds pretty good to me; but agree everyone needs to assess the risks for themselves. The OWS are having the same debate about possibly returning to using the Wolvercote hall.....
Re: Campaign 2020 Milton Keynes 2 & 3 May 2020
What is happening with 2020 Campaign entry fees?
Re: Campaign 2020 Milton Keynes 2 & 3 May 2020
No idea, I was never signed up as it is a 25mm event and I don't have the big toys; rolled over to next year (8th & 9th May 2021)?
Re: Campaign 2020 Milton Keynes 2 & 3 May 2020
The re-scheduled Campaign 20 for 17/18 October 2020 is now cancelled. Neil Sutherland from the MKWS has notified me that
"We held out as long as possible. The COVID restrictions that we would have to comply with meant that fitting in all the games with 2m separation between players, traders and demo games was very difficult. We would have to provide hand sanitiser, have a defined one way route through the event and everyone would have to use face coverings.
We have provisionally booked for 8/9 May 2021. I still have a load of uncashed cheques for your players. I will destroy or return the cheques as they wish. There will be full refunds to those that we have taken payment."
I am happy that he destroys my cheque. If those who who sent cheques would like to email me <ray_boyles@hotmail.com> I am happy to send Neil a group response.
