Quick tournament

Post by Eagletanker »

Hey everyone, I will be running a point tournament. The tournament will be on different maps, with everyone playing the same map for each round. There will be 3 playoff rounds before a final round for finishing positions. The maps will be street fighting, fast n sneaky infantry, cornfields, and mystery map for the last round.
Rules are no exit scouting, one rematch per player, games must be finished by the end of two weeks, results are posted as (name) as (side) was triumphant in battle against (name) as (side). Player one will post a private game titled Quick tournament for (player 2), with a passcode being posted here or sent to the other person directly. Anything that comes up that isn’t in the rules will be decided by me. Comment below if you want to play, and spread the word to other people who have played tournaments before.

Tournament has started
Round one: Street fighting
Major Neil VS Poor Old Spike - Completed,Poor Old Spike Dropped Out.
GentlemenRanker VS Ahuyton - Completed, GentlemenRanker (German) Won

Round Two: Cornfields
GentlemenRanker vs Major Neil
Ahuyton vs Tanker One
Glenghiscan vs Peterjfrigate

Round Three: Fast and sneaky grunts
Not finished due people losing interest
Note: This round is delayed until the resolution of Glenghis Vs Peter match. As we now have 5 people playing, the two winners of each round will play against 1st place and against one another.
Major Neil VS Tanker One
Major Neil Vs Winner of Glenghiscan and Peterjfrigate match
Tanker One Vs winner of Glenghiscan and Peterjfrigate match
Ahuyton VS loser of Glenghiscan and Peterjfrigate match

Final Rankings (Win-loss)
1st Major Neil 2-0
2nd Tanker One 1-0
3rd Ahuyton 0-1
Glenghiscan 0-0
Peterjfrigate 0-0
Poor Old Spike 0-1 (dropped out)
GentlemenRanker 1-1 (dropped out)

That sounds like a nice idea. Count me in please, though be warned I am really terrible at this game. Alan

Having become a huge fan Pike & Shot and Sengoku Jidai, I picked up both Battle Academy games in the recent Christmas sale. I have greatly enjoyed working my way through the scenarios, and the opportunity to play WW2 MP games.

Thank you for organising this tournament, I hope it will indeed revitalise the BA community, and show that these ‘Classic’ games still have much to offer. I too would like to participate.

Hi Tankerone

Yes, I will be in. Note my comment on the game.
Having a lot of trouble getting user developed MP games to be recognised by BA

Any clues?

Cheers

I think PoorOldSpike needs a rather more technical explanation of how to create, accept and play an MP game!

Yeah I used to create and host Combat Mission tourneys at Blitz Club but I think the procedure is different for BA

Well, once you use your slitherine account to long in to multiplayer head to my challenges. From there you can click on new challenges, and from there choose a map you have downloaded. You can choose for it to be private which makes you put a passcode, or public, which you don’t. Once you issue the challenge, it heads to the accept challenge tab to take a challenge.

What map are you talking about? Sorry, I don't understand. Remember I'm a wargamer not a geek, I hate computers and I only know how to make my little men and tanks run around shooting their guns..:)
What does this screen mean?-

That’s were you accept challenges. The red locks are private games, green are public. Click on a public game and then hit the yellow arrow at the the bottom of the screen to accept.

Today’s the day. The last Battle Academy tournament hasn’t happened in 5 long years, so prepare to help start it again.
I will be updating the OP with the Match ups and rankings, so good luck and have fun everyone!

There are NO public games on my screen, they're all red locks.

Then no one has issued a public game. Private games usually are on there, due to people forgetting the passwords or wait for a friend to join.

Well I can't join the tourney if there are no games for me to join.
When I hosted Combat Mission tourneys I did things very differently, look-

Well, your opponent should have issued the game. If not, PM him and post a private game yourself.
