Rudel.

When Rudel goes from Recon to Uber in 1941 do you have two Rudels in the Core or does the origional just get new stats?

Also make sure your recon Rudel unit isn't killed along the way. If he is, you don't get the Super Rudel unit.

Its worth keeping old rudel around for a while after you get new super rudel in minsk rather than disband him for points straight away as there a few scenarios where his extra spotting is very useful and super rudel is busy elsewhere. These are ones where there is little air activity after the initial air onslaught. e.g. stalingrad docks after getting rid of the enemy planes he is very usefull to spot transports coming over the river and finish them off as well after the strat bomber.

The four hex recon ability is key. However, old "recon" Rudel needs escorting as AI loves to kill it. Even with giving it sloppy leftovers and easy strafing and award of experience stars, it will never gain additional heroes, my hope was that it might gain an attack hero to offset Rudel's attack deficit.
There should have been a patch to make the unit spot and scoot like the recon air unit in US Corps (to escape attack).
Another option is to simply add the Rudel recon unit to your core mix with the cheat code, at the beginning of each battle.

As a bf110g or one of that family he (old un-upgraded rudel) can be quite useful in certain scenarios e.g.stalingrad docks that high visual range is essential for taking out the units whie they cross the river making that scenario much easier. I have a style that has a particularly strong airforce, there are lots of scenarios in the middle of the game where once you deal with and exterminate the enemy airforce they do not return. In those scenarios he can be very useful and as one of those fighter bombers he can take (and give) a hit or two without being destroyed - can be restrengthed at the end of the scanario with green recruits for free, just using up old experience. He is no use in the scenarios where the enemy airforce appear regularly in waves as a couple of attacks can take him out completely. He is also no use by gc45 and can be disbanded for prestige then.
