DLC 42 #01 Vitebsk

Used the core with the scenario (I still haven't had a chance to play DLC 40!). (You just have to stop beta testing DLCs for a while, please!

)

Lost a couple units on General level. Managed to clear most of the map but the two clumps of KVs and such in the bottom corners that pounced once I got too cocky and was driving around to collect the last couple places would have slaughtered more if I hadn't got the last train south.

This made it easy to get a DV really. Perhaps if one of these clumps overran the lower rail section at some point, making it necessary to go down and clear them out would make things a bit more tense.

Excellent Scenario - Soviet Partisans w/AA were a nice addition to make the start challenging and East/West attacks kept it very interesting.

Starting Prestige: 5474 before upgrades
Ending Prestige: 232
DV- Turn13

System Issues: None (Installed/Loaded fine)

Playability: Excellent

Text on completion reads: ..."You have thanks of all of Germany" I would add (the)..."You have the thanks of all of Germany..."

Something I forgot mention upstream in my report: I was unable to unload the troop transport trains in any of the rail depot hexes inside Vitebsk (right clicking did nothing). Is this by design?

Probably yes. To prevent people who didn't read the briefing from sending the retreating troops to the front.

I too didn't import my core force. Lost several experienced core units. Overall it was a very enjoyable scenario. Challenging with the Russians attacking relentlessly from multiple directions. I may replay it after importing my experienced core. Hmm, but that will delay me from playing the next scenario. Decisions, decisions...

Play without the imported core so there is some feedback about the core that starts with the campaign! It sounds like most here have imported. I'm finding the scenarios tough. The third one is impossible so far. The swarms of Russians wear down the German units and the prestige (not elite) is used up about 8 turns in.

I finished it just now; with a very powerful core army from the erlier campaigns, I found the 1st senario very hard (in the Colonel level), but not "impossible".
I had a D. Victory, with no casualty... but very weak forces in the end: 2-3 about 10-11 rank, 2-5 about 7-9 rank and the rest, between... 1-3!
VERY good and interesting senario, but like I said... the units' deploy (Russians) are very-very odd.

I'm using the core that comes with the campaign; defintely seems a lot harder when not using an imported core!

I would like to "second" this comment---the white background is indeed extremely "glary" and hard on the eyes. Is it possible to tone it down a bit so there is less contrast and maybe a warmer tone of white? In addition, I also found it hard to see the units and to distinguish one side from the other. After a few turns, I had to take a break and that for me is unusual.

I agree, this is very hard with the "stock" core group and I lost more than just a couple before scratching out (barely) a win at Colonel level. Good scenario however, and I think it recreates the historical situation prior to the 1942 German offensive in Russia.

Or tones of cyan/light blue; I'm illustrator, I know what I'm talkin' about.

Reading all of the feedback for this scenario:

Sounds like there are no serious issues with it, and that people are enjoying it.

Based on feedback, the points here that need addressing are:
Non-imported CORE should be stronger.
Allow Southern Rail Depots option to disembark.

If there's anything else important you feel I missed, let us know!

I certainly agree that the starting core needs to be stronger, with many more 3 star, maybe even some 3.5 star units.

However, as I wrote in my post, this scenario is weird in that DV is actually easier than MV. Thus far, people have no difficulty in getting DV, which is fine, but you should probably shorten the turn to something like 15. That way, if one of the trains do get stuck, you can at least get MV without the Russians killing too many more of your units.

Might not be a bad idea, we'll definitely consider it for players who are having a rougher time of the scenario and aren't able to get the trains escorted.

The first map. I was supprise how hard it was:) A lot of enemy units my Pz III and Pz IV are not strong enough. But Stuka is good:) Rumunian soldiers are not so good. What a pity that you cannot upgrade captured unit:( Is it possible that I have captured T34/40 but second sign was T34/41(r) it means that has the same attack, defend, ammo etc. as the real T34/41

Bugs: During I thought it was 13turn on left side enemy got one fighter and one tac.bomber, they were there for maybe 2turns but they didn spent any fuel:/ they were not on the airfield.
