Metaxas Line

Post by braccada »

12 April 1941 - The Metaxas Line, a series of fortifications built between Greece and our Bulgarian allies, would normally prove a quite difficult obstacle to ovrcome. My success in Yugoslavia, however, has given us the perfect opportunity to completely outflank this defensive line! My task is to capture all objectives as I advance south through the former Greek and Yugoslavian border. While I will be able to bypass the Metaxas Line by advancing in this direction, I should be aware that another British Expeditionary Force, complete with armor and air support, has been deployed in Greece to halt our efforts.

Crete - Naval

Post by braccada »

21 May 1941 - Operation Mercury is proceeding at full pace. Our objective is to join the initial paratrooper operation that started yesterday and to occupy all enemy objectives. The initial wave of Fallschirmjägers has encountered serious resistance and has only secured a single airfield use, just south of Rethimnon. It is vital for us to reinforce and secure this area immediately or else we risk not havong any airfields for our aircraft to resupply. Moreover we have reports that the British have moved several warships in from the east and I should avoid them at all costs. To help screen my landing forces a detachment of Italian destroyers has been placed under my temorary command. Lastly, although most of the British air assets have fled to North Africa, we have reports that a few formations have been left behind on Crete. We have to be prepared for them.

Minsk 41

Post by braccada »

22 June 1941 - With the start of Operation Barbarossa, armies that stretch from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea are on march against the Bolshevik! We have taken every measure possible to ensure complete secrecy for our invasion; so we should expect the first enemy units we encounter to be totally unprepared and easily swept aside. This will not last idefinitely, so we have to make the most of it while it lasts! My first mission, before even thinking about other designated objectives, is to disable the Red Air Force. At least a dozen airfields have been spotted in this region alone, and each of them is undoubtedly home to a squadron or more of enemy aircraft. While we will encounter absolutely no initial enemy aircraft, I can be assured that should these airfields remain in Soviet hands for too long, they will fill the skies with their aircraft! To that end, I should capture as many airfields as I can as quickly as I can. Any airfield that is captured before the Soviets go on alert will be one less airfield that can launch their fighters and bombers! To aid me in this first objective, several Do 217E's have been specifically modified with extra fuel tanks at the cost of their bombs to provide forward reconnaissance for my advancing forces. I can use them to scout ahead to locate safe passages to easily captured airfields. Should I wish to use the Do 217s as bombers, however, I will have to return them to a friendly airfield first to rearm them. My primary task, however, is to secure the city of Minsk along with as many other objectives as I can secure. If necessary, I have permission to completely bypass the fortified objective at Brest-Litovsk. However it is absolutely imperative that Minsk falls quickly, or our whole timetable will be thrown in chaos!

Smolensk 41

Post by braccada »

3rd July 1941 - Based on our exemplary successes and the ongoing efforts of the Luftwaffe the Soviet air force has been reduced to tatters. We should not expect significant aerial resistance at any time in the foreseeable futire. We may encounter a few scattered formations of fighters and bombers, but they should be trivial to handle.
However we have received reports that the Soviets have begun general mobilization of their armies, so we should expect fierce resistance from Soviet infantry and armored elements. I have to be prepared for dogged resistance and possible counterattacks that will increase in size as we advance further and further into Russia.
My immediate task is the city of Smolensk and the surrounding objectives. If I feel I must, I have persinnion to bypass some of my objectives, but it is critical that we secure Smolensk at all costs!

Ostrov

Post by braccada »

25th July 1941 - The forces under my command have temporarily reassigned to assist Army Group North on its advance towards Leningrad. My first assignment is to turn my forces North and capture all objectives up to and including Ostrov. The Soviet air force should put up token reistance, but surveillance aircraft have detected at least two large concentrations of Soviet armor. I have to prepare accordingly!

Novgorod

Post by braccada »

2nd August 1941 - Our drive on Leningrad proceeding on schedule, but there is one more major obstacle I must overcome first: Novgorod! Intelligence reports have confirmed that Novgorod is being used as a regional headquarters, and therefore must be neutralized! Not only that, but with the capture of Novorod, we will be able to sever the primary rail and communication lines between Leningrad and Moscow! My assignment is to capture the city of Novgorod and as many other objectives as I can. I have permission to bypass or ignore some of my objectives if I must, but it is absolutely imperative that all of Novogord be fully secured! As before, I should expect nearly uncontested air superiority but very numerous and well equipped enemy ground formations.

Leningrad

Post by braccada »

14th August 1941 - Rather than engage in a bloody urban conflict, we believe it should be possible to save lives and resources by sieging the city and forcing their eventual surrender instead! My mission is to escort six heavy siege artillery units of Army Group North to a number of positions outisde of Leningrad. We should not expect the Soviets will sit idly by and let these gun positions go unchallenged, so I have to be prepared to defend them against possible counter-attacks.

Vyazma

Post by braccada »

2 October 1941 - Operation Typhoon is about to start. My orders are to advance from Smolensk all the way to Moscow itself. Opposite the Dnieper River forward recon units have detected a large buildup of Soviet troops around Vyazma. It is recommended that we encircle this position from the north and the south and crush the pocket in a pincer maneuver! Once I've dealt with Vyazma, one more defensive line at Mozhaysk it all that stands between us and the outskirts of Moscow!

Sure same time? You are on CDT (Central Daylight Time) now? Just give me your starting time and zone and I will set up my stream accordingly. And no practice so far, but I have plan :) Seems to be a rough battle though, with Axis having a huge advantage in planes, ships, artillery, tanks and prestige. Moreover it is quite narrow, so being sneaky is easier said than done, because it is easy to have vision across the entire front line.

Streets of Moscow will follow probably on Sunday. I do not want to get too far ahead, because Lt. joker is still working on stuff for the next discussion video.
