I should have read first more, but I was in a hurry to get the experience of it. :D
Of course I will read in the near future.
No real knowledge yet expect the directions in the installation file. :)
Yes, I totally agree on getting experiences as only some knowledge can be provided/read... but some (maybe most) needs to be gained through your own experiences... as in real life!

Enjoy the ride and learn along the way, you can always replay this mod and try out new things...

But still, in case of questions, please feel free to ask...

Blind - Battlefield Europe v 2.0:

Closing in Moscow from south, attacking from north west as well to encircle from behind.
I am confident that will succeed in reaching to the outskirts.
Don’t know if it is possible to win the city.
Depends on the soviet reinforcements, if situations repeats like Mersa Matruh, where indefinite enemy units, pure in from Cairo area.
This will not work.

PeteMitchell wrote: Thu Dec 31, 2020 11:28 pm I may give it another try as well, i.e. based on version 2.0 with the hardest settings on the oil crisis but starting from Poland plus dice chess... just not sure I want to do Sea Lion right now because this requires some coordination... will see if/when time allows
It seems like it is not possible to start in Poland and then to play with the hardest settings on the oil crisis.

It is either to start in Poland and then follow the normal path OR to start with the version that has the hardest settings on the oil crisis (and start on 22 June 1941).

Why?

After finishing the "Mediterranean" scenario you should be offered this choice:

Normally you should not be able to press "Proceed" until you make your choice. The "Proceed" button is gray until you decide which version you intend to play, so I do not really understand, but whatever...

Blind - Battlefield Europe v 2.0 Turn 21 update:

Front lines report 18th April 42:

Battle of the Atlantic, not going well, lots of prestige lost in unsuccessful U Boats attacks. Lost one U Boat, another one is stranded due lack of fuel in the middle of the ocean and two are back to France ports for repairs!
Problem many destroyer escorts and air surveillance prohibits movement.
I guess I should start using wolf packs instead on single units and some kind of air surveillance.

North Afrika: Success in Mersa Matruh, as it seems we have successfully stopped numerous British attacks from Alexandria area. Lost one tactical bomber, one infantry, one light tank all Italians. Malta no effort given.
Eliminated one aircraft carrier west of Malta and discovered by chance an enemy merchant convoy east Mediterranean.
Strong presence of enemy fleet all over the place.
Brought reinforcements from the eastern front upgraded to Trop, one BF 109, one Me 110 and two infantry from Crete, considering one more tank and a piece of artillery, if going to attack Tobruk.

North army Group, all is quiet around Leningrad. Lots of army units transferred to help with Moscow. Finish army successful retook the frontier line and stopped.

Center army Group: We reached Moscow. This is our objective and thrown the majority of our forces. The city is expected to fall into axis in the next 2-3 turns. Unless, there is as another strong counter attack….

South army Group: Kiev encirclement we did not pursue. This is a smaller force with the help axis allied troops. Successfully advanced and took Bryansk, Kursk, Kharkov and Zaporozhye.

British Channel: Allied air raids continue. St Nazaire was attacked and one U Boat under repair took losses.

1942 objectives:
Take and hold Moscow. Launch an attack to Rostov and then south to Caucasus. Not attacking Stalingrad. Start Leningrad siege. Take Tobruk. Use wolf packs in the Atlantic.

Some people say using the U-Boots in the Atlantic is a waste of effort? At least as of 1943 it will be much more difficult. Maybe better to use the U-Boots somewhere else/differently?

Did you just stop (=hold) them or also destroy them? How, by forming a defensive line?

Destroyed all of them so far, no enemy units in vision. Very tough battle, I had to improvise many times.

Used my artillery Goose wise -stuck all together- away from the shore, which is bombarded constantly by naval forces.
Due to snow conditions British planes stop flying, so I switch the 88 to anti-tank mode with devastating results.
Falschirmjagers from Crete helped to stabilize the situation, since I had only one more infantry at the time.
Had also to reload the turn twice, due to bad rolls, not to lose the single Panzer.

U-Boots, it think it can be done much better! I did many mistakes.
I did not try the wolf pack a standard practice during war, which it might help a lot.
Lost also the two Atlantic bombers so no air surveillance.

Also, I invest lots of prestige to the wrong purpose.
Rebuilding strength of naval units in France, only to discover the oil crisis and after that I relocate them north, during winter, under cover of snow!

this stuns me...The Kiev pocket was massive...I eliminated some of it, but most just disappeared after surrounding it ….much, much easier to get them to surrender

To tell you the truth I kept on fighting, until no other units in site, they might be in the Marshes more of them. Right now I do not see any, also the "A" symbols are not there anymore.
