MOPP4 was indeed hellish
I understand training for something like that but if it ever got that bad in a shooting war in Europe, it wouldn't be long before the "balloon went up" and the nukes came down.
It took so long to don the gear that if we needed it in a hurry... toast.
Remember taping on those goofy rubber gloves? And why couldn't we practice using the gear on Jack Frost Mission to Wainwright in Alaska when the average temp was -20 and wind chill of -80? Had to be warmer than the cold weather gear they issued.
BTW, we didn't have to clean jack crap - Life Support / Survival Section did that for us... ya, I know: spoiled Wing Nut jerks
