Re: Italy Corps (b3 available for play)

Post by nikivdd » Mon Jun 15, 2015 1:27 pm

Update!

Built 3 is now available for play. Grab it here: https://www.sendspace.com/file/t8iaf3
Unzip and overwrite. In case the last save game does not load, remove the Italy Corps folder and unzip the file again.

Changes after b2:
The capture of Supply/Oil dumps in scenarios Sollum and Buqbuq award some prestige (untested).
I did not implement the prestige award in the Frontier Wire scenario because the supply dumps are player held.

b3:
The scenarios Operation Compass and Beda Fomm are now playable. These are the final scenarios without German ground units.

Played though the two new scenarios, they're quite fun. Only other comment is that the objective (gold-outlined) hexes in operation Compass are somewhat confusing. This is because you only have to hold the city and the airfields for a DV but the objective hexes make it look like you also have to hold all of the defensive positions. Keep up the good work.

Ice5643 wrote:Just played through the update. The scenarios were fun and reasonably quick so great work on that. Difficulty also seemed appropriate. The only comment I have is that in some scenarios you have supply dumps (Frontier Wire and Sollum) and there is that random Oil Well in BuqBuq. I assume these are for flavor, but I always think that they could be important (like the reward hangars in Dash to the Wire in Afrika Korps) so I go out of my way to protect or destroy them and am then somewhat disappointed when that makes no difference whatsoever. I just thought it might make sense to add some incentive for that (i.e. 50 or 100 prestige for each supply dump protected on the frontier because those supplies are needed for the invasion). Thats just an idea, your mod is shaping up to be a really great campaign.
Exactly my input a well. Must say I love this campaign.

The additional objective hexes are an old fashion trick to guide the AI units in the direction i want.

Update!
Build 4 is available for download. Grab it here: https://www.sendspace.com/file/wh5a6u

What's new?
There are three new scenarios to play after Beda Fomm: El Agheila, Agedabia and Cyrenaica.

El Agheila introduces German units on the field of battle. They are not part of your core but they are interesting in a very special way. Every German unit of the DAK that survives mission A, will be available to you in mission B. They will grow in experience and at the beginning of certain scenarios they will have received better equipment.

For the time being there won't be any further updates of Italy Corps, because as lead designer of Operation Sea Lion, i have my hands full with the beta test. Once Operation Sea Lion goes live, then i can continue with this project.

I find myself surprised by this news! :D

Any chance of a hinted release date?

Yeah good luck with Sea Lion, though I must say I'm somewhat saddened that we wont get another update of IC for a while.

Hello Nikivdd! As always, I thank you for the top quality and quantity of the modding work you share with all of us here! As I was somewhat "out of the loop" from the PzC universe lately... Could you tell me a word or two about Operation Sea Lion? Is it a new game or it will be an expansion to the PzCorps universe? Will it be sometihing like Allied Corps, i.e. a new full campaign, or what? can you tell something about it? Thanks!!! :-)

There is not much that i can tell except of what has been announced for as long the NDA has not been lifted. The beta is currently ongoing.

Operation Sea Lion is an official, all-new 30 scenario campaign for Panzer Corps. The campaign picks up the Grand Campaign '40 army core (or a default army for those who don't own GC '40). Sea Lion is the code name for the invasion of England in 1940 which historically never happened. Many scenarios contain PzC v1.22 scripting gadgets which were never used in any of the official expansions released sofar.

Italy Corps starts in 1940 in North Africa during the Border Raids. In my opinion, the official Afrika Korps' grave error was to let the opportunity pass by to include scenarios before the Afrika Korps' debut under the command of Rommel and thus to deny Italian units from gaining experience. This might be a reason why Italian units are disbanded or remain undeployed during the course of that campaign.

Campaign:

Italy Corps contains the following scenarios - British Raid, Fort Capuzzo, Nezuet Ghirba, Frontier Wire, Sollum, Buqbuq, Sidi Barrani, Operation Compass and Beda Fomm. After Beda Fomm, the campaign continues in Afrika Korps.
Panzer Corps.rar
(90.84 KiB) Downloaded 191 times
1) Back-up the Panzer Corps/Data folder before proceeding
2) Extract the rar file in either
\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\
for the Steam version of Afrika Korps
OR
\Slitherine\ (or wherever you have installed Panzer Corps)
for the non-Steam version of Afrika Korps
3) Start the game, chose Afrika Korps and start playing Italy Corps, the 9 scenario campaign prior to the Afrika Korps campaign.

After the 9 missions of Italy Corps, the campaign continues in Afrika Korps!

Hi nikivdd

My game starts up in 1940 Italian welcome, but when I press Proceed I just get a black tactical map. Any suggestions?

Try re-applying the latest Panzer Corps patch, and then follow the install procedure for Italy Corps.

Hi Nico!

Nice and short intro campaign for the Italian troops and AfrikaKorps fan. The map of Nezuet Ghirba is a little bit naked but it could be a little rest and a welcome pause for the troops and the unexperienced player. After that - party on! British troops are waiting in the desert and find these supply camps are good ideas, as ever...

Want more!

Greetings! :D
