where experience levels are shown?

Post by Ryben »

In the manual it mention that units get experience and that is shown in the info screen when you choose an unit in the map.

But i don´t see anything like that in the game.

Does units get experience? Where it´s shown? It´s a feature that was dropped from the game but appear on the manual?

In the Unitpanel, experience is shown with up to 4 symbols positioned to the right of the unit icon.

Experience will improve quality and survivability of a unit

Sorry, there are no symbols in the unit panel at all!

I really never seen them and i had played several games till 1945 so i´m quite sure that some units had experience.

Could you post a screen capture showing an experienced unit?

This is very strange.

I don't know how to do a screen capture, but finding experience symbols is easy---click on a unit, look at the unit information panel in the lower left of the screen. To the right of the pretty little picture for the unit, you will see anywhere from 0-4 experience markers, which will be miniatures of the national symbol (for example, an experienced Russian unit will have little red stars to the right of its picture.

If you aren't seeing these symbols, then you simply don't have any experienced units :o

There are NO icons. Nothing. Nada.

And i had units since the beggining of the game in 1939, now it´s 1943 so someone should have experience.

Could this be a bug from Friendware version?

I don't think somehow that they've broken the code, it's probably just the case of missing/wrongly named graphic files. So you could try to dig in you CEAW folder and see whether you can fix it.

That icons seems to me like the ones in the unit at max zoom level.

Could someone tell me what are the name of the experience icons? Johan, any hints?

No experience in CDV version

Post by JHo »

Salut - i have the CDV version (german) and the same problem!
Neither the experience icons are shown nor its improvements (quality/ resistance) take effect!
It is as my units stay dumb througout the whole game!

Will this be solved in the v1.05 from CDV

Is there a way to fix/ mod it easily myself?

It seems like the international versions have some kind of bug.

It´s not just the graphics, also the experience benefits!!!

No wonder now why my german tanks are so easily wiped out later in the game...

I´ve send an email to Friendware to warn them about this. It would be wise that Firepower also contact with them...

I know for one it works in the French version. Or at least it worked in PBEM I played against somebody using the French CEAW.

PS I know it does not help you, just wanted to stop the 'all international versions are bugged' attitude ;)

All PC versions use the same compiled code at different stages, some countries released the 1.02 version, some released the 1.04 but common to all the 1.00+ versions is that the experience effects are working and they increase quality and survivability.

Test in hotseat using a CV to bombard a unit for several 10+ turns. You will see the CV have both quality and survivability higher than starting. Reinforcing reduces experience though so it is common that units taking moderate or high casualties never get into high experience. :)

Ok, my fault!
I checked my old games and there were some units with differences for the resistance and quality!
And i checked the trick with the CV. It took about 15 times but then the resitance got up one point!

But what is still missing is the experience icon!

Maybe this goes along with the name!
Because the names one can edit with the editor are not displayed either!?

But i stop guessing and complaining!
Sorry again!

I have played two campaigns so far (axis side) and haven't seen the experience Icon either, or noticed
any of my units getting experience. I will check into the CV File this evening . Also I have the German
Version of the Game which I think is published by cdv ?? Or who can I contact about this Problem ..

On a side Note if it has something to do with the International Versions , can I just switch the game
to a English Version ?? I have tried changing the language setting from 6 to 1 in the settings file but
afterwards the game didn't even want to start at all ..

greets

I´ve contact with Friendware here in Spain and they looked a bit worried. They told me that they will contact the developers in order to fix this.

It would be a good idea to also notify your local publisher if you are experiencing the same bug.

Hope they could find a solution soon...

Hopefully in the process of localizing the 1.05 this can be added and everyone will be happy :)
