The press release indicates that AoW has been in development for twelve months, and "early 2008" suggests up to another twelve before the commercial release. IMHO, taking two years to produce a brand new rule set from scratch seems quite reasonable, especially if it results in a well-written, throroughly playtested, and professionally presented final product.

Has anyone considered posting the announcement on theminiaturespage.com?

Cheers,

I'd be happy to, JD. Any suggestions for a preferred headline?

I have forwarded to TMP an abbreviated version of the press release (with a link to the full version here), with the headline "New Ancients Rules in Development from Osprey and Slitherine Software." I hope it passes muster!

I see that Nik beat me to the punch by starting a discussion thread on TMP and providing a link to the press release, thus rendering my news story redundant. I have asked the TMP editor to remove my story from the queue.

I'll have to be quicker next time!

Alas Nick - being highly drilled in such matters - didn't need to take a Complex Move Test. :-)

Great you all like the exciting news. And having been in from the beginning I can say that 2 years can pass very quickly when working on something like this. JD's first meeting of the authors team - somewhere in a pub down the M4 - feels only a few months ago....but is in fact a year ago now.

Just checked on TMP, and the news item has been posted after all. That's cool - now there is twice the discussion and 'buzz' for the rules there. :)

Cheers,
Scott K.
