Is there a Technology List?

Is there somewhere a list of technologies with what tier they are in?

Is there a list that shows what benefit is obtained from each technology?

I know that the development team has to have this information, and they could save us Beta testers several hours of time reverse engineering this information if they would just provide it.

Frankly, I don't like the whole "don't give the Beta testers any information" mentality. I work 50 hours per week at a regular job, and I don't care to spend my valuable remaining personal time reverse engineering information that the developers should have provided in the first place.

I was thinking of making this my next project unless someone else does it. I won't be able to start on it until I am back home next week though.

All the technologies are in Data/World/Technologies/ and their descriptions at Data/Languages/English/Technologies.xml. For what you get from them, you can either find an entity that has the same / similar name in Data/World/* with the tech as requirement, or perhaps simpler, observe it from the tech tree. You can use the "/add Technology all" command in the chat to gain all techs and reveal the whole tree.

Why doesn't the Pandora team give us the technology list? I looked at the XML files in World/Technologies; it would take a very long time trying to make a technology list from this!

Why should we have to spend the time trying to reverse engineer it?

That does not make sense. If the Pandora team provides us the information that they can, we could spend our time more productively filling in the gaps, instead of starting from scratch.

Even with a complete technology tree, there is still key information one needs to know:

1. What is the tier of each technology. I see no way to find this from the technology tree.

2. Exactly what is enabled by each technology? You see all possible units, buildings, weapons, armor, devices, etc. but you have no way to figure out which technology enabled which option.

I would really like the Pandora development team to give a list of technologies with their tiers listed and what they enable.

I have wanted to add a Technology section to my manual, but there is no way that I am going to spend many hours to reverse engineer this information when I am sure some developer already has it in some format on their computer. I don't mind what format it is; I can reformat it and beautify it for the manual.

I would have even used XML files, but I could not find XML files which listed technology tiers and what they enable. So Pandora technical team, do everyone a big favor and supply us this information!

That file is great! The only thing I could not find is what Tier level each technology is in.

Which XML file is this?

Is there a way to find out which Tier each technology is in? I realize that the effective Tier will be based on how the random tech tree is finally constructed, but I understand that there are 28 fundamental tiers that are used for construction of the random tech trees.

It's not in any XML, but you'll be able to print it to the log file with "/print technologies" in the next version (and it'll also be in the help panel).

You could extrapolate what tier it is in from the cost, IIRC each tech can be in two possible final tiers, so if it has a cost of 16 or 24 it can either be final tier 0 or 1, cost 40 and 64 is final tier 2 and 3 aso. You can also find that out through the tech xmls, tier there is the era (white, blue, gold icons), subtier is in which two final tiers of the era it can be (0 => 1,2; 1 => 3,4; 2 => 5,6).
