CTGW.EXE crash in MP

Greetings,

my first post I believe, I have owned CTGW for quite some time, I have yet to finish a game either in the single player or the multiplayer, it simply crashes all the time, I've had this problem on 2 PCs with different specs and graphics cards, I gave up on the game but decided to try it again after waiting over a year and hoped it had been patched and fixed, unfortunately its not the case, about 13 turns into a MP game with my friend and its crashed again, this time I get the message CTGW.EXE has stopped working, drivers are all up to date. I have a few games from slitherine like panzer corps and the likes, and I really enjoy them. CTGW is the only game that is continually unplayable, which is both a shame and frustrating. my CTGW file says the following :

Is the entry hex for the Baltic convoy blocked by naval units?

Which scenario are you playing?

thank you for the promp reply, We are playing the 1914 scenario I was looking to take a screen shot for you but cant find out how, there is a german convoy that just arrived on the map, we have german ships and ussr ship fighting, it looks like there is possibly 1 hex where the convoy could come through, but id say it looks blocked ? thank you

there is actually no ship in the hex were the convoy arrives though

Are you sure the hex is not occupied by one of your opponents invisible submarines?

just waiting for a reply, I can see were the german convoy came onto the map, would that still happen if a sub was on the hex ?

No, if the convoy is in view then everythink should be alright.

Usually the game crashes if a unit can't be spawned because of its entry hex and all surrounding hexes being blocked by units. Since players love to clog up the entry point of the Baltic convoy this usually causes a crash.

To take a screenshot press the "print" key (next to F12) and open MicroSoft Paint. Select "Paste" from the "edit" menue and save the picture. Then upload the picture using the "upload attachment" function in the reply box (in the lower left corner).

Another thing: has Turkey already joined the Central Powers?

Could you upload a screenshot of the situation in the northern Baltic using the method I described above? This would give me a proper "picture" (pun intended) of the situation.

sorry rob, mate driving me bloody mad, ive replayed the game 10 times, when I do the screen shot in game i either get the start menu, or what the game is processing in the turn but not what ive scrolled to, to take the screen shot, sorry

Hmmmm...if the game would be constantly crashing after turn 11 in MP for everyone there should have been a deluge of bug reports in the past (when the game was still "hot") concerning this issue.
So, something must be "special" about the moves/unit placement you and your opponent made in your game.
Have you tried any "experimental" tactics or declared war on neutrals maybe?
If your opponent is hosting the game, does he run the latest V1.6.6 update?

this isn't the first time rob, I played the single player 1914 a few days ago it, crashed at about turn 7, ive played this game with my friend in the past about 5 times, it crashed ranging from turn ummmm 10 to 20, I gave up trying to play CTGW, this is my second computer whilst owning this game and it still crashes. Having said that I own panzer corps and an add on, lock and load, never had any problems, the only reason I haven't purchased Strategic Command WWII is im afraid im going to get the same problems ? I haven't tried declaring war on neutral's but ill give it a go tomorrow, I might have to leave it there for now rob,its midnight here, many thanks for your time, really appreciated

to be more correct, the games I played with my friend where over 12 months ago, he gave up trying to play it as well, I just thought given the time, they may have fixed any crash issues, just doesn't seemed to of happened in my case, thanks

I wasn't suggesting to declare war on neutrals, I only asked whether you did so in your game since it could lead to instability.
