I do not want to spoil the intrigue, but it was Hoffmann. Artillery killed five, first army 3 and second army 2.
Also I want to complain about nehi, otherwise he laments over my every good move. Nehi bulds 19 fighters and use mass air againts me!

@both of you: please don't take the game too seriously, we are still in the MP play-testing stage and if the game stays stable that is good enough for now. We can take care about balancing stuff once the game remains stable. :wink:

Robo, italian demands are not working most likely as intended

their alignment is shifting towards cp, even cp didnt achieve anything important until now, germans are in belgium, like never stepped on french soil

around 40 alignment trento wasnt ceded -> "When Trento is NOT ceded: AH will gain 1D10 of morale and lose a collapse point. Italy alignment will jump up to 95 (quite close to joining Entente)."

around 30 intervenionism happened and still falling, 27 just now

on top of that, i guess once i played some weird strategy vs ai as cp, italy demanded trento, i gave it to them, but they joined entente in few turns (max 3), isnt its effect reversed?

Whoops, Italy jumping to "95 pro-Entente" for CP not ceding Trento is REALLY not up to date any more...oh, dear!
Don't be too upset....I REALLY have to rewrite that part of the manual too! Hey, I'm only a single guy writing all this shit up! :D

Nehi, you said you held Budapest for 1 turn, that surely should have to given a major pro-Entente swing to Italy, sorry but at the time of writing that part of the scripts such an event never was an realistic option. I will include a BIG bonus for Entente to have Italy join them after such an event in V7.5.

Argentum's Austria-Hungary should be in a rather bad state I guess though because of this still-

Please grit your teeth and try to keep going on as long as you can, you are doing it for the Potzblitz project so further updates can benefit from it.

Even if you lose the match you will be doing a great effort for future updates.

dont be afraid, im heading for first properly ending mp match, no matter the result, its the reason ive jumped in again after long time, as sooner it looked like unfixable

i guess argentum will stay too, as hes allready stayin more turns than anytime before

about that hoffman, the later player picks it, the more bonus he does? is there any deadline/condition when he will disappear from event pool?

i guess early hindenburg disable him, nothing more?

If "Activate Hindenburg now!" (because CP player panicked) was NOT chosen there is no deadline for Hoffmann.
The later he is played the bigger the bonus to the combat roll (replay might not show the actual results).
However CP player may find it difficult to draw him later in the game without reload-hell.

Nehi, how do you explain that already five turns on row AH or Germany lose the entire PP and amo? Do you reloading until you get a message about the "socialist defeatists"?

in vanilla reloading changes like nothing, u werent able to beat me even with reloading there, we both know it, last times it was really obvious u failed in your desperate plans

i played like 5 games in all cgtw last year, i had like no intention to start with reloading, i havent even clue, what all is reloadable in potz until this game (from ai games i knew about events - i was lobbing year ago for change, but robo wasnt listening and mp looked like unfixable, so i let it be), but i hope robotron will fix it, at least most of it, so lets roll its maybe your last time

Yes, yes everybody reloading and i reloading in vanilla , it changes nothing, but I reloading(lol wut). Only the most honest in the world nehi not reloading and five times on a row "socialist defeatists" it just luck. Although I got only one ''naval code broken" and one ''army code broken" in more than fifteen turns during which I had intel superiority over Russia. With 'reloads' of course.

By the way, tell me why you decided that I was rebooting in vanilla if it couldn't change anything, so it couldn't be noticed. Or you just lying?

i never told u im not reloading now, i didnt for first few turns, but u forced me to that shit, in beta testing game, else that game would ended ages ago

u r calling using exploits as good moves, thats your mind set

i havent mentioned im playing vs u when i started to call for changes, u confessed yourself, because u r proud of it

im trying to test it and balance it, but u r so desperate that u were never ever close to beat me in vanilla, that u keep exploiting even when there are just few active players around

no great magic, dude, i played more games vs u, u came with that shit in later games, it changed nothing, so u left as quick as anytime before

usual play looks like players pick units in a row and do attacks vs one hex one by one, but u were picking in way like 2 good attacks on one hex, 1 bad attack else hex, then 3rd good attack vs former hex)

u werent the most obvious reloader, but enough obvious

i know its naive, but it would be great, if u told robo what all is reloadable, u dont have to do it here, but at least in private messages, so he can fix it

maybe its good time to ask robo, whats the chance italy will shift for 3 or 4 points? whats the chance it will happen each turn? billion : 1? good move?

Hi,

I'm playing multiplayer with a friend. We both are aware of the risk of a sudden end in middlegame due to crashes.

Just curious about reporting, @robotron: how do we report bugs in MP? I've looked for the save and log files, but they are missing at the usual places. Do you need us to write down things, events, screenshots and the like?

well, obviously there is no savegame for MP besides the one stored on the Slitherene MP server.

If the game crashes in MP there should be a ctgw.log at the usual place (my Games/Commander the Great War), maybe just for the player who started the match, not sure about that though.

Writing down notes of events played or making screenshots every few turns would of course be quite helpful in case anything unusual happens and/or the ctgw.log contains no crash report.

In the past this was always the case when the dreaded MP replay crash bug happened.
An MP match if crashing during turn replay is unfortunately unrecoverable.
An MP match that crashes during a player playing his turn IS recoverable.

The MP crash bug is believed to be caused by the playing of choice-events which cause units to spawn in line of sight of the enemy.
I rewrote that spawning routine.

So, if you and your friend want to really test the MP game for stability I'd suggest you play as many choice-events that mention the spawning of units in their description as soon as possible. Such events are:

"Canadian Corps", (Entente)
"Expand Royal Flying Corps", (Entente)
"Abadan Oilfields", (Entente)
"ANZAC arrives in Egypt"" (Entente)
"Enver Pasha", (CP)
"German subs shipped to Adriatic" (CP),
"Fires in the Desert" (Senussi Uprising), (CP)
"Build experimental Submarine", (CP)
"Russians Repelled" (CP)
"Bulgarian Trench Line", (Entente)
"Brussilov Offensive", (Entente)
"Lake Naroch Offensive" (Entente)
"Kerenski Offensive" (Entente)
"Arabian Revolt" (Entente)
"Irish Revolt" (CP)
"Tank Prototype" (Entente)
"Russian Black Sea Dreadnought" (Entente)
"Kaiserschlacht" (CP)

Doing so would reveal any problems with the replay crash bug as early in the game as possible, saving you the misfortune of having it happen in the late game and therefore having invested as less time as needed on an unrecoverable MP match.

it can happen, but it looks quite stable this time, 29 turns problem free, we are using like all mechanics in the game

but i noticed minor issue, if i had chosen "spawning" event, i didnt get nor unit or gold as compensation

V7.5 news update:

1.
The procedure for Italy's decision what alliance to join will change to prevent reloading.
It won't have a random factor anymore but will be deterministic and will be decided by efforts of both players to sway Italy either by military success or bribing Italy with territory.
Italy's alignment will shift each turn toward the player who had more success to sway Italy.
The other player can try to slow down or reverse the shift by outperforming his opponent.
A detailed list of what will count will follow.

2.
Success chance for INTEL was lowered, counter-INTEL twice as effective now.

3.
Successful INTEL actions will halve a player's INTEL on a victim nation. This represents spy networks having to re-organize after a successful action to keep their cover.

4.
Infiltration INTEL actions will give a fixed amount of bonus diplo for the infiltrating player.

5.
Sabotage events have been toned down:
- morale drain will only occur if the target nation's morale is still 50 or more.
- collapse points will only be caused if the target nation's morale is below 20 or less and the target nation is already at 8 or more collapse points.
- 1 ammunition factory will be destroyed only if the target nation has 10 or more ammunition factories
