Repairing bridges?

Somebody asked this question in the Steam BA2 forum, what shall I tell him?-

Repairing bridges in BA2?
Can you repair a destroyed bridge?
In the Kursk German campaign, July 10 scenario, the Soviets can destroy a bridge that the Germans have to capture in order to win. If it's destroyed, it can't be captured, and you can't win, but the scenario keeps playing until the end anyway.
If you don't capture the bridge before it's destroyed, are you just out of luck?
Having adjacent Engineers doesn't work like it does in BA1. Am I missing something?
