Will run BA and BA2 on new iPad's with iOS 11?
People that update its iOS version will lose BA?
(our premise was: software not updated is a dead software)

Yep - good question.
Applies to all Slitherine offerings in the AppStore as well.
I've been seeing a lot of companies like Beamdog etc getting their products ready for IOS 11.
Would be good to know Slitherine's plans.

We are currently collecting a list of which games are already 64-bit ready and which are not. Anything updated since June 1st 2015 will have had to include 64 bit support.
I do believe that you are correct that updating to iOS11 will prevent 32-bit apps from running, even on devices capable of running 32-bit code. It is very frustrating.
Cheers
Pip

Good to know Pip thanks.
Classics like BA, BA2, P&S, Panzer Corps, Armageddon and Commander the Great War, should not be allowed to die on mobile despite Apple's ham handed policies !

I am supposing that it’s because of the “niche” market element.
While there is a core set of avid fans that are extremely dedicated to good quality Strategy / War games, the products in question are not “Clash of Clans” and other such mass marketed, cash-flow creating crud.
So I’m thinking that Slitherine looks at the 64 bit re-development cost, comparing it against the potential sales for the company and decides it’s not profitable.
But I wonder if they underestimate the core fan base?
As one who does 99% of his war gaming on IOS these days (due to career / office set up), I could honestly say that I would pay full price again for each of the major / significant Slitherine games on IOS.
The only other IOS war game publisher in town these days is Hexwar, and although they have produced some decent titles recently, they have a long history of pumping out simplified games and abandoning them.
The loss of Slitherine in this market would be sorely felt.

It is sad to lose these great iOS wargames. Now future iOS users will never have the experience of playing these great wargames.

I would love to have some version of Battle Academy compatible with iOS 11 in the future. I'd be willing to pay full price for that.

Can you just refuse to update your iPad and stay on old firmware?

That's what I'm doing.
The concerns are : 1. In bleary eyed state from work, make the big mistake and Agree to Apple's constant nagging. 2. Damage to my existing device and getting a replacement with IOS 11.
Let's see what fate the device gods bring ...
In the meantime, I found a cheap laptop and a little more spare room on my desk and am now attempting to wean myself off of IOS ....
Outlook for IOS War Gaming : Slitherine now retired from serious IOS releases, Hexwar not really fit for prime time, JTS not working on mobile Apps for a long time - according to inside sources, Battle Factory seems dead .... grim times indeed for that platform ....

Yep, I haven't updated to iOS 11 and both Battle Academy and Battle Academy 2 still work.
