"One Fort to far"?

Let me attack it! Hmm do I have zero supplypoints and zero land and air points?

Heh, I am sure that you will have the tools at hand to reduce the fort to rubble, once the scenario is ready. (It is still in design.)

Well, three of those "forts" can only fire on naval targets and the bunkers and foxholes are no match for late '44 units. Only the two "real" forts with their heavy arty guns that do not lose efficiency like other arty are of some concern... Yeah, some strat. bomber attack would seem appropriate...

Astute observation. Yes, there could be a surprise or two. Don't forget that, in this milieu, the hand of the designer is like the hand of God.

Re: Be honest. Do you tremble ...
Heh, I knew people would google the name and come up with that. No; instead, trying googling "Fort Frederik Hendrik, Netherlands." That will in turn give you a clue as to what action I am portraying. (Note: Designer's license at play. This fort may have been occupied, but almost certainly wasn't the monster that I have created. A bit of whimsy for additional fun.)
Yes. It's actually a fault of mine in scenario designing, this preference for balance and symmetry. It can lead to unrealistic results when representing a messy war in an imperfect world. But this looks so pretty, I couldn't resist.
And like the beautiful Nightshade, it might be deadly!

Re: Be honest. Do you tremble ...
Final version. Significantly hardened. Contains surprises. Blame Gabe.
By the way, the three guns that Gabe observed do not fire inland actually are the real prize. The sea fort and two coastal guns, along with some other coastal guns, must be cleared before a certain operation can begin that will lead to the accomplishment of a key primary objective. So the fort is just an obstacle to be overcome so that this can happen.

I can tell from the mini-map that you are preparing the battle at the Scheldt estuary.
Should this fort be destroyed to start the naval landing ?

Zut alors!
Indeed, you have a sharp eye. I should have obscured the mini-map! ( )
Yes, it's the Battle of the Scheldt which began on 2 Oct 1944. First Canadian Army, with Polish and British units attached, versus the stubborn Wehrmacht trying to keep the Scheldt Estuary closed to Allied shipping into Antwerp. In particular, their defense of "Fortress Walcheren," the island at the mouth of the estuary which Hitler has ordered held at all costs. (When did he NOT order some place to be held at all costs? Did he ever say, "Try your best, but don't worry if you can't hold, just save your army"?)
Here is the preliminary list of objectives:
Here is the mission description for "Safely dock six cargo ships at Antwerp"; this explains my comment above about the coastal guns:
So, as I said earlier, destroying the fort is really to get at the sea fort and two coastal guns that it contains, so that when all such guns are gone, minesweepers will spawn to clear the East and West Scheldt, allowing cargo ships to proceed to Antwerp (and Bergen Op Zoom).
One of the surprises is, those three guns, and the two fortresses, will be impervious to ground and air assault. Engineers will need to be positioned next to each of these five structures in order to perform demolition. If it all works out, of course.

Will you somehow show the flooded area on Walcheren when the Germans blew up the flood banks?
