Waffen SS
Is there any way of visually distinguishing Waffen SS units from the regular units? To me they all look the same, I'm not even sure if I have SS in my core. In PC they had a distinct camo pattern.
Also, what is the benefit from using them? Are they just a separate unit pool or do they have some special traits?

Re: Waffen SS
IMHO its just a separate pool, also you get SS Viking division if you have Winter war installed (think it the one)
Re: Waffen SS
Well, they do not have the Wehrmacht flag. It is a skull and bones pirate flag. (For legal reasons)ivanov wrote:Is there any way of visually distinguishing Waffen SS units from the regular units? Their benefit, as Steenv has correctly pointed out, is having another faction on your side. Extra units to attack, hold down flanks, defend.

OK, thanks. I will keep an eye on my pirate units then.Andy2012 wrote:

I've noticed that they have the same stats as the regular units, it that correct? It would be cool if they were slightly stronger or cheaper or cost less command points to deploy. Most of the time SS units had priority in terms of equipment and replacements.

Well, they should be weaker at the beginning of the war and a bit stronger at the end. Because at first, they were inferior to the Wehrmacht and only in the end had experience, fanaticism and better equipment.
That however would take forever to balance out right.

Re: Waffen SS
As far as wanting them to "cost less command points to deploy"; just consider them "extra" command points, and it is basically the same thing.

Re: Waffen SS
@terminator: Yes, the SS had a different skull. However, it is an illegal symbol in Germany and OoB cant afford to dodge that market or be excluded from selling there. And I guess nobody around here wants to be dragged into a discussion about vices and virtues of famous Nazi commanders. (These usually just end in bad blood.) So let's just focus on the game and the factions, shall we?

Re: Waffen SS
Sorry, I don't know it is an illegal symbol. There are so many symbols of death's-head everywhere...

Re: Waffen SS
Actually I think it's somewhat stupid myself, but this or using the swastika symbol within the game could really result in a complete banning of the game here in Germany...

No big deal.terminator wrote:Sorry, I don't know it is an illegal symbol. There are so many symbols of death's-head everywhere...
@GabeKnight: Yes, Germany is a very important market. Also, getting involved in the whole Nazi History thing usually turns into a downward spiral in forums. So best to avoid it, mostly.

@Terminator
Write me how to paste photos between post's text, I tried but I can't do it. I must use the attachment.
Ok, I know now, thanks a lot
Tiger I from SS-Leibstandarte Panzer Regiment (Kursk battle)
The only recognizable sign is the famous "dietrich"(passkey, picklock) on the front plate of the tank.
Nazi symbols are not even necessary

@kondi754
Difficult to explain you how to do in a post.
Just a remark on your image of tank tiger, this image is signed by an artist (maybe it is you ) :
A last question in passing, a screenshot of a video game has a copyright ?

Do you think that I should not post it here without permission?
This is a drawing from website but ok, I'm removing it (I do not have time to analyze the issue of copyright )
Re: Waffen SS
@kondi: I think as long as you dont claim ownership or profit from it, it should be fine. I also think Slitherine wouldnt be too happy if this turns into a thread adoring the Waffen SS and praising their commanders.

We can find comparable images on the Internet which are signed or not.
I do not think that it hurts the artist to publish his(her) image.

@Terminator, Andy
Ok, I thought I had done wrong, I'm glad that everything is ok.
Personally, I regret that I do not have any artistic skills. I would love to paint military scenes ...
Tiger I tank was restored to service.

Re: Waffen SS
Hello,
I made a new thread to add a file that will give you a new Waffen SS Flag and Emblems. I used the 2 Lightening Bolts as I think that seemed to reflect that unit the most in Movies etc. I hope others will enjoy it, I cannot stand a pirate flag in a German campaign!
