The biggest mistake Shenandoah is making right now

Not flooding us with information about El Alamein.

I heard nothing about this series until just before release. I got hooked on the videos and developer diaries. I love playing Battle of the Bulge right now. I wandered back over to the site when I was ready to learn more about the next game in the series. I was dismayed to find a single blog post from May.

You have to keep us customers hooked! This is what blogs are for! I know you guys know this. I saw in the other thread that we were supposed to get more info this week. I hope my inflammatory thread title inspires a bit of a long weekend. :)

Hah - thanks for keeping us honest!

Rest assured you'll be hearing a lot about it soon!

Please don't follow suit with so many other game / entertainment companies by filling blogs with 'the latest' news on the latest thing....aka... keeping us hooked. Let us enjoy BotB without throwing a teaser out about something else. Take your time and make a quality product should the series continue. When it's done, let us know and we'll buy it. ....or am I revealing my age in saying this ? Kids these days.....never happy with what they have.

The biggest mistake Shenendoah Studios could make is to treat their followers/customers like PSIII 'twitch kids'.

Hehe fair enough. But it's important to stay in front of customers. Normally I'm with you and I hate "teasers." So if I'm asking for more content, Shenandoah must be doing something right with their blog entries and this game series. They're clearly written for adults. They're very informative and intriguing for people like me who enjoy following this kind of behind-the-scenes stuff. I'm a little bit further along with Bulge than you. I'm ready to hear more about the sequel before I move on to other things while they finish it up.

In any case, I made this post after I heard some misinformation about the sales for Bulge. I wanted them to keep going strong. But now I've heard differently. Everyone can sit back and cruise! No rush.

Just curious...how have sales of Bulge been? (or is that classified?)

This is by far my favorite iPad game and I hope sales exceeded expectations. (both to reward the people at Shenandoah, and to encourage future games like this one)

Sorry, Ron. I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you. ;)

As for El Alamein, work continues behind the scenes. I'm a firm believer in not making announcements until you have something to announce, so that's the philosophy we'll be following here.

Didn’t someone on BoardGameGeek come up with the idea of using the number of star ratings as a proxy for sales? Also, you can look at chart position to get a very approximate idea of sales. (I’d be curious to know if someone can estimate actual sales with these, I would have to dig up the BGG post.)

:D If thats the biggest mistake we're making then I'm a very happy camper! :D

Seriously, we're excited about El Al and will tell you more when we can. But all in good time.

I understand where you are coming from, but many of us invested in El Alamein up front so are keen to understand how it is progressing.

The original Kickstarter estimated BoB for Sept 2012 and El Al for Feb 2013.

Now BoB slipped a little, but not much, 2.5 months I think.

But I get the feeling that El Al is a lot further away based on the lack of info. Compare with BoB and there was loads of information and updates from 6 months before the final release.

If El Al goes the same way then we could be looking at Aug 2013 or later.

Cheers,

Nigel

I thought their biggest mistake was not also developing these games for Android. We're out there, you know - people invested in an Android tablet who would love to play these games, but can't justify the cost of an iPad just for that. Any chance of a port or a separate Kickstarter campaign for us?

Android users will never buy but pirate the game. It's unprofitable unless they put up a big ugly ad in the game.

It's a delight to play on the iPad. Certainly worth the money. (For this and many other reasons)
