Thanks to Mr G Dods for a great game. It was, as football commentators are fond of saying "a game of two halves" (aren't they all? well maybe not those games that are divided in quarters, or cricket where they stop for lunch and tea!). The first half was chaos light horse charged, sometimes the enemy evaded, sometimes they didn't. When they didn't anything could happen, even between seemingly equal opponents. Sometimes the two units would melee for turn after turn with hardly any casualties, sometimes the charging unit would disrupt on impact, sometimes the charged unit would disrupt on the impact. There seemed to be no rhyme or reason, or as they say North of the Border- "Ah dinnae ken". Much to the Scots amazement they seemed to have victory in their grasp. it proved an illusion, the second half began. It was all English success from this point. Was it the result of those wine recommendations? Was it the result of the English units rallying? Were the Scots light horse that were left too done in? Did the English Foot come into their own when they felt free to leave the woods? Whatever the reason it was a great performance by the English turning a 19 point deficit into a 4 point lead.

Anyway "Am pure done in" now so I am off to eat some Ecclefechan cakes and have a "wee lie down".

So I think we are just waiting for the following games to conclude:

Lascar v Doyley50
Fybyyn v Kerry D

It would be nice to finish in the next days so that we can get Round 3 underway.

So if I understood the results correctly, this was a narrow English win. Thus the Scots are pushed back over the Wall and Berwick has an English governor once again.

Now we move forward to the 16th Century as the English seek to retake the lowlands and plant the Cross of St George in Edinburgh, where it belongs...

Seven Border clashes of recent times has resulted in the Border being closed to Scots as five of our seven Clans have been badly mauled.
A Border Treaty has been signed that will allow Scots to cross if they pay a poll tax.

Doyley50 challenges KiwiWarlord, pwd 1234.

The English army have sharpened their swords, loaded the packhorses with a plentiful supply of stottie cakes, bacon and good English ale and are preparing to cross the border.
