GermWest'39-'40 spec.window issue???

Post by tula1959 » Tue Oct 01, 2019 9:29 pm

Have been working my way through Germany West '39-'40 and have run in to a very odd glitch with the specializations window!!??? When the window is open it is very odd looking and shows only the '39 specs....AND WILL NOT SCROLL down further to show the '40s.... I am in to the May 1940 scenarios and have been unable to obtain any later specs... Could someone nuke their way in to a few and see if they are seeing the same thing I am????? And YES this is the latest v1.5 update I am running...

I see it, tula. This campaign runs for less than a year and there is not enough scale in terms of time (vertical axis) to show much of a specialisations "tree."

Of the German specialisations included for Germany, those six are available at the start, and they are all arranged in a row. Use the horizontal scroll bar to see them all.

However, Erik could have shown more by extending the ending date of the campaign in the editor. I ran it out to 31-12-1941 and got this:

Without doing a sweep on this campaign, I don't know if the player will have enough points to purchase any more specialisations than the six on the top. If there is a chance of that, however (and your post implies that this is so), considering the last scenario starts 21-6-1940, there could be a possibility of acquiring Magneton Radar (available 1940), Auftragstaktik (available 1940), and Scrambling (available 5/1940).

GermWest'39-'40 15Haag victory glitch

Post by tula1959 » Wed Oct 02, 2019 1:54 am

Just finished 15Haag scenario and found glitch in victory triggers - captured all the primary airfields as required but did NOT give credit for Ypenburg and Ockenburg…. as can be seen in the pic.
Had those two in the bag for many turns previous and failed to register - gave me a draw instead.... I will press ahead to the next scenario but as always, wanted to flag the issue for you guys!

Ypenburg and Ockenburg must be captured by the Fallschirmjäger units.

Thanks for that clarification Bobster! It would be very helpful to have that requirement clearly stated somewhere in the scenario description or victory conditions - the Allied counterattack pushed my paras off those two airfields early on but once I was able to break through to them and they had a chance to rest and resupply I could have used them to retake the fields but did not know that it had to be them to do so.....I retook them with other forces of course, and thus failed to satisfy the conditions.... Onward to Sedan!

Germany East 1943 1.6

Link updated in first post.

Campaign:
Added events

General scenarios:
Added new Soviet commanders
Added Soviet unit experience at a slightly faster rate (from the 3rd scenario)
Replaced substitute units with new Guards etc
Reduced number of turns for several scenarios
Added German supply to several scenarios
Added missing exp to units
Minor fixes to various stuff
Bridge blowing: The ‘unit-on-the-hex’ requirement is to add a random element
Added German air/ground exit hex (no return) to most scenarios. These were requests from several players probably needing a way to salvage units.

Tula, try clicking on the Question Mark next to an Objective for details. :)

Sure, plenty of times there is nothing there to see but it's a necessary step before starting the scenario.

The FJ requirement is already part of the objective briefing.

Great! Another the opportunity to replay my #1 scenario, Gin Drinkers! :D

Gin Drinkers - The scenario is really polished, and still loving it. Did see a typo in the Briefing: "You orders are to...". The only error I noticed was that the objective still requires 21 turns and not 20.

Hong Kong - All Japanese cleared from the Island.

Task Force Z - Seems pretty well balanced now, but it didn't give me the achievements for sinking the battleship or a carrier.

Kota Baru - Happy to see that the Naval exit hex now works as intended. :) The Australian core Air Force units didn't carry over from the previous scenario and there are no RP's for purchasing new units. The objective to occupy the Ngae airfield in 10 turns is unrealistic, the Japanese move first and in strength that is much stronger than anything the player can muster.

I had never gotten past Kota Baru before so the rest of the scenarios were all new to me.

Slim River - Tried multiple times before coming the the conclusion that the Taipang and Kuala Kangsar air fields were untenable. However, I did discover later that "Hold for 5 turns" doesn't necessarily mean the first 5 turns. :)

Muar River - New Zealand and Australia have Air CP's but no core units available. I spent some of my limited RP's blowing the Endau Bridge only to find out later in the scenario that there is an event that blows it automatically.

Singapore - Didn't have any issues with this one.

Bilin - With Female Factory Labour we are short of supply to deploy all CP's. Are the objectives for Kuzeik and Kaso switched? We only need to hold Kaso for 5 turns but it is not close to the Japanese assault while Kuzeik needs to hold for 10 turns and is assaulted immediately. There isn't much point in including the western portion of the map, the Tigers are destroyed immediately and once the bombers finish off the facilities just return to base and do not participate the battle in the east.

Rangoon - Australian air CP's became available but no core units did. Didn't get the achievement for blowing the oil refinery.

Toungoo-Prome - No issues here.

Indian Ocean - Total disaster. The Yanks wished they stated in the Pacific, I knew they were done for when I saw the wave of approaching air units on radar. However, I thought that the British were safe hiding out in Celyon, how wrong I was. After the Americans were taken care of and the air formations headed to Celyon it only took a single turn to sink the first British capital ship, and it just fell apart from there as the IJN pursued the Royal Navy all the way to the Arabian Sea. There are a lot of Naval and Air CP's available to use but not many new units provided and since there are never any RP's available to purchase new units in this campaign the player is severely handicapped in this one. Some how I did get a draw on this one, maybe because I decided not to deploy the RN Carrier?

Yenangyang - The Allies go into negative supply on the first turn. With the computer controlled Chinese in the way, the player can make no contribution to the defense of Kyekadaw or Yedashe so the objectives to defend those locations are unrealistic.

Monywa-Mandaly - Again, the player has no input for the defense of the Chinese held objectives. Hold for 15 turns? Heck, the Chinese couldn't even hold them for 3 turns, and by turn 14 every Chinese unit was destroyed. Otherwise the scenario played out really well and after holding off the Japanese in the west, I found it fun to have to redeploy my units to face the enemy approaching from the east.

Arakan - Defeat on the first turn, right after deployment. And I was so looking forward to finally go on the offensive.

Thank you Erik for this campaign of a WW2 theater that I know so little about and doesn't get much attention in the war gaming community. It plays so differently from a typical OOB campaign in that the RP supply is so weak that elite replacements are too expensive, purchasing new units is out of the question, and forget armour. It all seems perfectly appropriate for the setting.

Some thoughts on US Corp 44 - 45 - nearly impossible without some #warbonds. And i have over 100 specialization points, and nothing to spend them on. Would be better if theses were converted to RP's instead. Loving the scenarios, however. Great job otherwise!

Are you Danish by any chance ? The danish Scenario in GC 39 is so silly hard, there are more units than Denmak possessed in real life.

Norwegian.

The Danish scenario postulates that the Danes actually fight for more than 6 hours.
That means they mobilize a lot more troops than historically.
Yes, all those units were part of the Danish roster.

US 41-43 Bizerte

Hi Erik,

I got a minor victory on this scenario, afte rtaking all five main objectives. Since I took Bizerte earlier, I prevented any Axis units to embark on its port hexes. I guess this condition should be considered as an accomplishment for the minor objectives and provide a Major Victory, or not?

Regards,

M

Post by matthew2582 » Wed Oct 23, 2019 3:16 am

Just installed Germany West 1.5 17-8-2019 by unzipping to D:\Users\devel\Documents\My Games\Order of Battle - WW2\Campaigns and when I load it - I have no deployed units, only Gebirgsjager 41 in reserve units, Glogau objective is already ticked in green even though there are 0 units deployed and I have 640 RPs, 26CPs & 9 Air points - Please see screenshot -

The attachment 2019-10-22 22_06_35-Order of Battle - WWII.gif is no longer available

I just watched Paradogs YouTube and he has lots of deployed units and no CPs

The campaign loads and runs fine and maybe that is the way it should be as I can spend the CPs the way I choose, as opposed to Paradogs Poznan where the units are already installed when he starts the campaign

Have I gone wrong somewhere? Thanks

I'll take a look at the sec obj. Thanks for reporting.

Edit:
These Germans are already at sea at the start of the scenario, so you really need to sink the transports.

You're supposed to purchase and deploy your core units.
i just tested and was able to buy 2 x inf, 1 eng, one SdKfz 222, one PzKW II, one 37mm Pak 36, on and one 7.5cm leIG 18. Trucks added.
Luftwaffe got one Bf110C and two Ju87Bs.
This is approx the starting units in the Panzer Corps campaign.

The Gebirgsjäger unit was added to the reserve because there are no such units available to the German player in 1939. An oversight by the developers.

Good luck and have fun.
Erik
