Perhaps I have not yet played enough scenaries to get them.
Another thing Ihave noticed when using mods is you dont get any bonus unit like the 2cm Flak etc - how come?

Patras v1.2 with "Forgotten Units Mod"

Played at level 5, and almost got the Major Victory, but did not complete the mission before turn 26, one too late. The enemy's core composition is good this time, good balance. Although you pointed out the supply ships (sec. obj.) quite nicely in the briefing, I kind of didn't see the difference between them and the merchant ships and thus bombed the wrong one's and almost missed that one too... :oops:

The Greek 75mm Bofors stats are still the wrong ones! :!: Taken from the vanilla units.csv I suppose? It's the same as with the Hungarian one: the AT-version has a TWO-HEX attack range and can fire at planes simultaneously! :lol: Didn't notice that at first, and lost two tanks to this faulty behaviour. Without it I'd probably would've gotten my Major Victory. You should correct it in your mod...

Everything else worked just fine (obj. triggers, popups).

suggestions:
- you shouldn't limit the fighter planes AI team 5 to air only, let it attack my transports and arty as well...
- the strat. bomber for the player may be too much
- remove the merchant ships from the coasts as to minimize confusion :wink:
- reduce player's Waffen-SS income to 15RP/turn MAX
- the "All VPs completed" prim.obj. trigger should be set to "capture" event instead (but as a warning: don't mess with the failure triggers, as the "check turn limit" condition's ONLY met, if the event is set to "turn start"

Probably the only thing which does not work with my Mod.
I tried many things, I cannot free these units bonus.
It seems to me that before these units bonuses appeared in the Editor and that now they do not appear any more ?

Do we need Kavallerie '39, Kavallerie '40, Kavallerie '41, Kavallerie '42, Kavallerie '43, Kavallerie '44 and Kavallerie '45 :?:

Instead of fixing more important bugs, development time was rather spend lately in making a modder’s life miserable by denying these more or less useless bonus units to custom content. The model names are blocked for custom-use. Maybe you can still extract the necessary data from the archives and make them available via mod with different model name, or you just modify the code somehow. These units can go to hell in my opinion. I really hope the sales climb to the sky by this pathetic change now... :roll: :evil:

SS Wiking easy to create and 20mm Flak 38 can be taken from Battle of Britain.

I don't care so much about the flak, but rather the pretty Australian Commandos. Say goodbye to them until PzC2 maybe?
Existing custom scenarios with these "bonus" units are unaffected that were created before v5.2.9. If you remove them in the editor, they are gone forever. You just won't be able to create new custom content with these original units. If you got a backup of an old game version, you could also still place them again, of course. :wink:
I'm already curious which further units get banned with the upcoming DLCs.

Back to nicer topics:
Cavalry/mounted infantry units only become useless if they lack new upgrades. Historically, they excelled in recon and hunting down partisans throughout the war, especially when travelling through difficult terrain and mud and snow.
Here's an example of German late-war cavalry/mounted infantry of 43/44:

Other factions like the Germans and Soviets could need sniper units like the Japanese and US Marines. 1-point units are always nice as command filler. No idea if there will ever be German commandos like the Brandenburger which could also be very useful to have.

Calling the German cavalry/mounted infantry only "German Cavalry 'xx" is fine. Large cavalry formations were formed, disbanded, and reformed by the Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS until the end in 1945. I guess it was similar like with other nations. Even the US used horse units in the Pacific at beginning. I wouldn't really create extra weaker scout/recon cavalry units. This is too much fuss, similar like scout/recon infantry. I still don't know if it makes sense to create many sniper/scout-marine variants for each year. I've posted my thoughts in Gabe's mod topic.
In my mod, I've given camouflaged sniper/scout-marine and commando units 2 steps (recon-move), so they don't easily get pawned when they do unfavorable discoveries. These units serve me very well as recon infantry.

I found that the cavalry is not very usefull in this game.
Historically, Cavalry excelled in recon (@Horst).
You can see on the image the Russian rider with his binoculars.
In PanzerCorps, Cavalry is in the infantry class but the LOS (Line Of Sight) = 3 (LOS regular infantry = 2).

We could increase the LOS for the cavalry 4 -> 5 or 6 (=3 open hex) :

I'm not that sure at moment if LOS 3 (or internally 6) can ruin some terrain sight blocking in vanilla. You have to check it this in the terrain.csv files.
Actually, I like the way how the vanilla inf-attack values of cavalry is done:
japanese_infantry_37: 9 (inf-def 9)
japanese_cavalry (37): 11-8 (inf-def 9)
Vehicle defense 8 of cavalry versus 9 of infantry isn't such a huge drawback either.

This way, cavalry excels on open terrain but slightly suffers on city-hexes, stay about the same on other close terrain types. It's a bit old-school cavalry charging and maybe not that plausible against machine guns but who cares?
It is still important that you create yearly upgrades of cavalry, otherwise it will become too weak in later years like it is in vanilla.

In earlier days, I've given cavalry units steps-2 which was too powerful though. The AI constantly cut my units off supply what was a bit too annoying.

My Mod is compatible with the Official Campaigns , so you can replay the Official campaigns or scenarios with the new units.

Another version beta :
The difference is that in this version there 2 new classes : Recon Land (=old Recon class) and Recon Air(=real new class)
Now things are much clearer for the recon units.
Impossible to upgrade land to air or air to land recon units :!:

Remember that creating new classes can cause AI units in vanilla scenarios to ignore these classes if they aren't defined by AI-team Seek & Destroy settings.
Declaring air-recon units as tactical bombers works really fine so far in my game, like it was done in Panzer Corps. It actually works even better this way if AI fighter planes with S&D behavior are only defnied to attack aircraft-classes and not recon-class units.
