Ave,

I've read, with great interest, a number of posts regarding naming your squads. I hope the list below will be of some assistance.

Thanks Spedius I hadn't seen this information before.

Alae are cavalry and I'm sure you all know what cohorts are.

Under Augustus' reforms the two main types of Auxillery Cavalry were the Ala Quingeneria with 16 Turmae(30 men) and the Ala Militaria with 24 Turmae.

Two main types of Auxillery infantry were the Cohors Quingeneria with 6 Centuriae(80 men) and the Cohors Milliaria with 10 Centuriae.

There also existed Cohors Equitata which added 4 Turmae of cavalry to Cohors Quingeneria and 8 Turmae to a Cohors Milliaria.

So anyone tried editing unit sizes yet?
