Could future editions of the rules be formatted so that any changes stand out more clearly, in italics or bold or bullet marked? It would help us pick up on the ongoing revisions.
It seems valuable to deploy half or more of your generals with skirmish line to drive them forward and pin the enemy. Is this historical/intentional?
P.20 Impact POA`s ??“ Light spear. So LF with LS get a POA but mounted opponents don??™t? Seems rather strange as this gives the foot s good initial advantage?
P.24 Complex Moves - Do generals in combat influence any of these rolls?
P.36 Uphill in melee
P.40 Frag troops ??“ what if LF being charged LF, shouldn??™t they test as well?
P.40 Last line - Routers lose one base per rout move after the first, we had missed this before, is it new? Should it say after the Initial Rout for clarity?
P.55 Second para. First line, open to abuse ???pieces of any size???. Sad but possibly true?
Are we going to have weather as an optional rule?
Can troops that are burst through by friends in an Impact move then move themselves later in the turn?
Are VMR`s optional or not, or once opted for they must apply? Do generals affect the roll?
That??™s about it for now,
Lance.

Next edition is likely to be a major reformatting to make the whole document more user friendly as is likely to have accompanying diagrams as well. We will see if we can put major areas of change in red.Could future editions of the rules be formatted so that any changes stand out more clearly, in italics or bold or bullet marked? It would help us pick up on the ongoing revisions.
Yes its is intentional. It seems to have been historical for some armies but not for others. It seems to work better as a game mechanic than allowing 2nd moves for skirmishers (which was our other option) as it means you have to thingk more about your generals aand thier use.It seems valuable to deploy half or more of your generals with skirmish line to drive them forward and pin the enemy. Is this historical/intentional?
I am relaibly informed that one of the reasons the Romans switched to javelin was to counter mounted. Bascially the extra range ofa jav vs pilum was enough to have an effect on a charge. I guess that means you hurt them before they hurt you....hence the effect. So if foot have decent anti-mounted weapons you will need lancers to take them out normally. Most LS troops are MF so there is usually a + for fighting these.P.20 Impact POA`s ??“ Light spear. So LF with LS get a POA but mounted opponents don??™t? Only for the unit they are with - so may affect a test to stop pursuing.P.24 Complex Moves - Do generals in combat influence any of these rolls?
? definition thereof? What is the question?P.36 Uphill in melee
I tend to agree. We'll chat about that one.P.40 Frag troops ??“ what if LF being charged LF, shouldn??™t they test as well?
Yes it should. It is going to be changes to lose one base for every battle group in contact with them. This way there is some value and incentive to wipe out oppsoing BGs so they cannot rally. A good historical use for skirmishers.P.40 Last line - Routers lose one base per rout move after the first, we had missed this before, is it new? Should it say after the Initial Rout for clarity?
Yes you are correct - we didn't intend to allow a 6ft x 4ft steep hill!!P.55 Second para. First line, open to abuse ???pieces of any size???. Sad but possibly true?
Planned for a future campaing supplement along with all sort of othe goodies but not going in the main rule book at present. Are we going to have weather as an optional rule?
YesCan troops that are burst through by friends in an Impact move then move themselves later in the turn?
VMRs are compulsory where they apply. Quality re-rolls are optional - so you can choose to re-roll your 1 and go faster or stay short on a pursuit. This gives elites and superiors a small benefit. If a general is fighting with the unit at the time of the re-roll he would raise the quality 1 level. So if an iitial rout move or pursuit move he would affect it if fighting in the front rank at the time. Thuis giving a little mopre flex (but not a lot). Are VMR`s optional or not, or once opted for they must apply? Do generals affect the roll?
OK hope all that helps.
