I beleive Carsomyr and SMJohnso77 has already begun so I could play Gdod, unless Carsomyr fancies taking on the Ikko Ikki twice. SMJohnso77 plays so many games he won't notice an extra one. Let me know, I will hold off starting for a bit.

Sorry, I was busy out in the countryside looking for traditional monk robes to replace our classic Japanese mob attire, which generally consists of soiled loincloths and mud. While I failed, I found a number of new recruits that I think will inject fear into Brian's Oda!

So after the confusion, I think that we have the following games...

Kiwiwarlord v Th30n (d)
Fybyyn v ahuyton (w)
Carsomyr v SMJohnso77 (l)
PeterthePainter v Gdod (w)
GentlemanRanker v Snugglebunnies (l)

Just a reminder to the Oda to launch the games please.

Thanks, I can confirm the game with Gdod has begun. I am waiting to see my opponents deployment, but I am pretty sure I am holding my own so far!

Maybe I was bit optomistic in the last post. There are 28,000 of "Them" and 14,000 of "Us".

But we'd still have one very large transgender pregnant woman left over. Ah ha, which was our cunning plan all along! (Or, at the very least your math is flawed. If 1 samurai is worth 10 peasants then on a kill ratio of 1 to 1 it's only a draw!)

60% of 28,000 is 16,800. At 10:1 that means Samurai losses are 1,680 = 12%. A good win to the Samurai

From the Bureau of Statistical Untruths [ B.S]

The chief Chinese economist, Dam Li stated today "I'm afraid loosing 60% of 14000 is rather more than the reported statistical misinformation, and those peasants will just breed like rabbits...."

Later that day on a field outside Forest Gempo a self-proclaimed Peoples Shogun was heard to mutter..."Hey, quartermaster are you sure that mob over there from the village of Usagi no suana in the Kōkatsuna keikaku ga arimasu Prefecture aren't rabbits?"

In my experience of this game, it is most unwise to underestimate the danger posed by even a single Bunny - let alone thousands.

Just finished my epic battle as Oda against steve's ikkoikki and luckily won.

Oda general Carsomyr leads around 13500 men to battle against the ikkoikki rebels under the famous monk general smjohnso77. The ikkoikki are have the number advantage (around 19000 men), mainly consisted of large sized ferocious monks with either naginata, bow or matchlocks, the rest were filled by countless peasants. The Oda army seems comparatively weak in a head on melee combat as there are only two samurai spear units with a bunch of spear ashigaru of varying training levels, but it is more versatile due to the addition of matchlock skirmishers and cavalries.

The ikkoikki are placed in a line formation ready to break the Oda in a thunderous charge. The Oda decided to take defensive in the centre and the right flank, and moved its skirmishers and one cavalry on the left to support the centre. As the battle began and the ikkoiiki ready to exploit its number advantage, six Oda skirmisher units were on the move and ready to shoot the naginata monks. Due to the sheer number of monks, the skirmishers' shooting seemed like pop guns and were outguned by the ikkoikki massed matchlocks. As the monks charged in, the Oda skirmishers retreated back to the rear and the spear samurais and ashigarus were ready to brace for the charge in the centre and the right flank.

On the left flank, Oda cavalry and katana ashigaru caused some disruption in the ikkoikki peasant brigades. The fight was slightly in favour of Oda in the forest on the left flank as one yumi samurai and one ronin unit (both large sized and superior) routed some Ikkoikki peasants and monk archers. Then they were ready to reposition and charge out of the forest to the back of the main ikkoikki army on the plain to save the day for the outnumbered Oda infantry men.

The change, however, took place on the Oda right flank as one superior cavalry and one bow ashigaru successfully initiated flank attacks on the peasants and the monks. Soon the peasants and monks chain routed before they were able to break the poor Oda spearmen. The flanking force soon took both the ikkoikki left and centre by storm and saved the day, ending in an Oda victory against the ikkoikki (16% vs 54%).

Well, here’s an unlikely outcome:

GentlemanRanker’s Oda defeat SnuggleBunnies’ Ikkō-ikki 50 – 25

The Oda force maximised naginata and bow armed troops, with the intention of being able to contest the forest if necessary. No extra light teppo were taken, as their performance is pretty underwhelming. The Ikkō-ikki fielded a seemingly endless sea of superior warrior monks.

In keeping with the friendly spirit of the event, both sides advanced cautiously to attack. The Oda line was split by an inconvenient forest, which had to be defended, and there were further blocks of forest on each wing, which disguised the Ikkō-ikki advance. The Oda forces successfully attacked into the forest on their left, and managed to defend the forest in the centre just long enough to scrape the win. The Ikkō-ikki advanced into the open and annihilated the Oda right and centre right, with large generalled-up units of warrior monks grinding down the yari samurai, coupled with good use of the mob units to roll up the Oda line.

Good game. I hope that SnuggleBunnies does not feel that he had been ‘hoist with his own petard’, I have learned a great deal from watching the videos on his YouTube channel, and the standard of my play has improved as a consequence; and I know that several of you would say the same. So thank you Jack for freely sharing the secrets of your success.
