Another Toyotomi win – but the game unexpectedly came to an end at the start of Turn 12, with the score standing at: GentlemanRanker’s Toyotomi 40% to GDod’s Tokugawa 55%

A somewhat unsatisfactory end to an otherwise enjoyable game, as Gavin’s Kobayakawa allies were about to fall upon the weakened Toyotomi and do grim execution, substantially increasing his score; and the Toyotomi were robbed of the opportunity to claim an outright victory.

The game began with both sides immediately closing in to clash all along the line. The Toyotomi won the initiative on both flanks and took an early lead, but by Turn 7 this had been completely eroded due to a comprehensive Tokugawa breakthrough in the centre, and the butcher’s bill stood at about 30% all. At that point, it was clear that the game would be won by whoever was *not* reinforced by the Kobayakawa. Gavin drew the short straw; thereafter both armies fought on in an attempt to maximise their score.

By the end of the game, the two armies had completely swapped sides on the map, with the Tokugawa forces attacking from the East, and the Toyotomi defending Sekigahara. It is to be regretted that the game ended just before the faltering Tokugawa honjin could be overrun, and that GDod once again contrived to escape still in possession of his head.

PeterThePainter (Toyotomi) 60% routed - Snugglebunnies (Tokugawa) 28% routed Toyotomi strategic victory

After the game a screen announced this as a "glorious victory" but it does not feel or look like that. Snugglebunnies and his turncoat allies tore the Toyotomi apart and the routing requirement for the Toyotomi when the Kobayakawa join the Tokugawa, at just 21%, seems a little low. In reality the Tokugawa lost the battle on the result of a D6 die throw at turn 8. Had the Kobayakawa joined the Toyotomi I would have lost but as they did not I had a chance, I wasn't sure I would do it at one point but there were enough soft targets to enable me to reach the requirement. Well played to Snugglebunnies I think the changed victory requirements, from turn 8 onwards, were a surprise to him.
It seems wrong that the result hinges on one single die throw.

Ishida Mitsunari successfully ended Tokugawa Ieyasu's dream to unify Japan (carsomyr 35% vs ahuyton 41%)

Kobayakawa joined ahuyton's Eastern force but everything was too late since more than 30% of Tokugawa forces were routed. Finally seeing no hope, Tokugawa forces conceded, ending Ieyasu's dream of hegemony.

A difficult win of the battle, but ultimately a strategic loss for Tokugawa (me) 41% vs Toyotomi (fybyyn) 65%.

Started off rather poorly, immediately 15% of my forces were routed. Luckily, Kobayakawa joined me and proved to be tremendous help just as the tide of the battle started to shift.
