Hey Devs...Where are laser textures located?

Hey guys...

Specifically looking for the location of textures and files used to determine color and shape of laser/bolter fire?

Specifically the little blobs of light that come out of the guns when fired. I want to try and change the colors and (hopefully) change the shape into something less like a blob and more like an actual beam or streak of light.

A little help here please?

You won't be able to change the shape of the particles really. But the textures are fxtexturepage.dds and alphatexturepage.dds in the CORE folder, IIRC. You can reload textures when the game is running with CTRL+HOME.

Hmmm....

Thanks for the reply. Just wanted my lasers to look more like laser beams rather than "blobs"

I'll see what I can do.

New question for the devs.....


The lasgunProj.fxf and lasgunProj.s4f files....would they have anything to do with the appearance and behavior of laser blasts?

I cant open the s4f files but the fxf files can be edited in notepad.


Any idea what the variables indicate and if they will help me in my goal? (or I can start plugging in numbers at random....heh heh)


EDIT: hmmmmm random tinkering shows that most have to do with texture colors.....can change colors of lasers...not shape yet.....

It's not really practical to alter the values by hand - you would need to use the particle tool which I don't think we have released as yet, and even then you would likely struggle to change the shape of the lazer bolts. Sorry!
