NO...which would you suggest??
Re: IS this a good laptop for PC 2 type of game??
This wont work. You need the onboard GPU; 3GB RAM at least;Jonesy1760 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 17, 2021 7:42 pm OK...here are the specs for a used Alienware laptop...I'm on a fixed income so is this appropriate for PC2 AND OTHER TYPE GAMES???

For reference, a new laptop with a decent processor and a GPU will cost you $800-1000
If you need to save, go for a small harddrive (these are upgradable + you can plug-in an external one)
Also monitor is not a big deal - you can always buy a better quality larger external one

Re: IS this a good laptop for PC 2 type of game??
I'm on a fixed income ...disabled guy as I mentioned 800-100 is way out of my range...best I can do is 700...and that's pushing it...I don't need a high-end gaming machine...PC 2 is as high-end
as I will get..can anyone recommend a mid-range gaming laptop?????

Re: IS this a good laptop for PC 2 type of game??
Dedicated graphics share memory with the CPU instead of having it's own "dedicated" memory. A 5-6 year old laptop is going to be showing its age with modern video games. Have you considered manufacturer refurbished laptops? Since you're looking at Alienware (owned by Dell), Dell does sell their own refurbished PC's, laptops and monitors - including Alienware. And Dell has their own branded gaming laptops (G3, G5, G7) that are less expensive than Alienware. If you're OK with scratch & dent, the prices are less than refurbs. All come with the same warranty as brand new equipment.
I know, because I play on a Dell G5 laptop that I bought refurbished from Dell 18 months ago. I have not had a single issue and I can play PC2 on the highest graphics settings. I paid about $700 for Core i5 9th Gen CPU, 8GB RAM (I added another 8GB myself), 256GB SSD, 500GB HDD, and a GTX 1650 GPU.
Check this one out for $700. It is basically what I have but 1 year newer so 10th Gen CPU and 1660 Ti GPU: https://outlet.us.dell.com/ARBOnlineSal ... MI9Q%3d%3d
I'm sure other brands do something similar.

Thanks for helping him out guys. I've not bought a PC in 15 years and last upgraded the CPU fan about 10 years ago because the primitive fishtank-pump water cooling leaked. I look at new Pc's and don't know where to begin anymore.

The laptop DarkblueInk linked is a damn good value. Should be able to play on high detail at native resolution for PC2. Just as a reference, the 1660Ti desktop cards are selling for 400-500 dollars used right now. the desktop is a little faster, but your getting a whole computer for 200 dollars. Its a great deal.

It does me fine atm but it's starting to creek. I can still display billions of polys in Zbrush but Substance can bring it to its knees. I might take the plunge when we move to Unreal 5.Edmon wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 12:21 pmNever been a better time to treat yourself to something uber, Pat .Patrick Ward wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 12:12 pm Thanks for helping him out guys. Re: IS this a good laptop for PC 2 type of game??
My family have at home a mix of Apple, Alienware, Dell and HP computers.
For PZ2 I use a Dell G5 which I upgraded and is giving me good services with various games.
The cheapest (but new) version of this family of Gaming computer has the following characteristics:
10th Generation Intel® Core™ i5-10200H
Windows 10 Home English
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1650 4GB GDDR6
8GB DDR4 2933MHz
256GB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive
15.6-in. display
Its price is at your upper limit.
You can add latter more RAM and a SSD disk if needed. It has inside the same Alienware temperature controler.

Re: IS this a good laptop for PC 2 type of game??
Good luck Jonesy, I think you'll like it. BTW, a tip: if it is like my G5, it ships with the integrated graphics enabled and you will need to specify which apps/games should use the NVidia graphics. Lots of Youtube videos to show you how to do it (it's super easy) and maybe your tech friend knows how to check as well.
