steam help needed
what all do I need to download to steam to then install updates, new DLC's, etc. thanks
Re: steam help needed
You need to authorize the game and any DLCs you have.
Steam auto updates by default.
You may want to turn off cloud storage, because Steam will save your save game files every time, and won't let you delete anything.

ok but how do I authorize the game? and turn off the Cloud? question. so once you download via steam the game doesn't autosave if you turn off the cloud? if you download the game via Steam, when you play on your PC but not on the net, it still doesn't autosave?

Re: steam help needed
Are you trying Steam or Slitherline, they are different 'animals' as updates go.

I'm gun shy about Steam and the cloud
Re: steam help needed
You should be able to update and authorize AO42 at the same time, as the updater is the AO42 installer.
I clicked update before I entered the auth code. When I updated it did a new install.
So two 20+ minutes of Slitherline install time.
Saves and Autosaves to your disk are part of the game. Steam adds a Cloud backup, which allows you to move between machines and have your ongoing games available.
But when you start or quit Steam it mirrors your cloud backup with your Saved Games folder.
Which takes time, turning off steam may take 5 minutes. Plus any saves you deleted or moved to archive are restored to your Saved Games Folder on your PC. So turning off Cloud storage saves time and disk space.

Re: steam help needed
I checked I'm definitely running the 1.02 update. so why when i go to my store to download and install the 42, does it say I need to install the update I already have? I thought I had downloaded the 42 but its not there or if it is it won't unzip but none of the downloaded files on the unzip downloaded files page say 1942 nor have it listed to click on to install where you are prompted to enter the serial number
Re: steam help needed
Have you uninstalled the game completely and reinstalled it?

Re: steam help needed
no but if I do, do I have to erase everything? if so. then reinstall every DLC individually? and lose my cores I've built up?
Re: steam help needed
Your saves should still be in their folder. If you are worried about them, make a copy of the save folder first. Not sure about cumulatively having to re-download each dlc.

Don't buy at Steam: as a Digital Right Management, YOU can't manage "your" game...
