But 'uber unit' is now part of Panzer Corps 2 as in a trait for a random hero which lets you overstrength a given unit by 5 extra points.
So, how would you call this hero trait?

Well, as I see it, a title for the type of "bonus" you get is only needed because you have random names for your heroes.

I'm making the case that you have named heroes after historical persons involved in WW2 and that a fixed bonus is set for every hero. So if you for example get hero Kurt Knispel then you get a fixed bonus +4 defense (or whatever is deemed appropriate). This is a bonus applied specifically to him. So when you click on the hero you immediately see the bonus and no "explanatory title" is really needed. Kurt Knispel can only be allocated to armored units, ie to units he historically served in.

This will make the heroes a more immersive function of the game, as I see it. I get that not everyone is a history buff like me, but if it atleast would be possible to mod fixed hero names into the game, I'd be very happy.

And if the random hero thing is not changing, here's what I would do; remove the label of the hero altogether. When you click on the hero, just show the actual bonus, without using any label at all. So in the case of the 'uber unit', just call it '+5 overstrength'. That way I don't have to figure out or remember what the different labels mean in terms of a bonus.

I know, and that is good and all. I still think 'uber unit' is a dorky title. :)

I'm trying to understand how you would call it, but instead you are telling me how to redesign half of the game one week before Gold Master. :) Each hero has a list of effects which he/she applies to a unit. These effects can be stat boosts or adding/removing unit traits. When you get a new hero, you see this list of effects in the popup message. Even if we get historically named heroes at one point, this fundamental mechanism of how heroes work is not going to change.

Each trait which can come with a hero has name and description. This particular trait has name "Uber Unit" and description "+5 max overstrength limit". Calling this trait "+5 max overstrength" is not an option, because it would be inconsistent with all the other traits in the game. We need a proper name. So, what will it be?

You can call it elite, crack, veteran, any number of things. I am fine with Uber though

Sorry, yes, it wasn't and isn't my intention to be obtuse. I apologize. I get that this is late in development and things are what they are. :)

And yes, you want to stay consistent so it has to have a label, got it! So here's my suggestions (and since I don't have the complete list of trait names, some of these might be taken already or not applicable):

Empowered unit
Overstrength unit (kind of on the nose of course)
Brunt bearer unit
Force concentration unit
Consolidated unit
Extra provision unit
Lead belly unit
Iron gut unit

And my favourite:

Schwerpunkt unit

I call it Godzilla, but because Godzilla is a Trademark, the official game doesn't have that luxury.

So you could use a very generic word in place of Godzilla: Monster.
Meh that sounds weird.

The idea of cramming more strength into a single hex, we could go literal.

Call the hero a 'Consolidator'. Someone who can consolidate more than normal strength into a single unit.

Or call the hero 'Overcrowder' maybe.

Über is a most excellent tag for the +5 str hero.

Über-unit, as in Super-unit.

Very fitting and mildly humorous.

But with the ¨ otherwise, it sounds like the taxi service...

My gripe with 'uber' (and also über for that matter) is that it gets thrown around so much today in both the media and among youngsters. It's "uberweapons", "ubercool", etc, etc. It's used in a lame way these days and that's why I don't like the word used in the game (and yes, there's the taxi service too, that doesn't make it any better).

Think rather about the failed Nazi concept of the Übermensch... and their horrid fascination for "bigger is better", then it's darkly funny and very fitting :D

Just 20 days to go!

About Übermensch, it was conceived by Nietzsche and it has nothing to do with superman or with the nazi movement.
The use made by the Nazis was distorting, it served to raise the supposed Aryan race on a higher plane, Übermensch, compared to the non-Aryan races, Untermensch, considered inferior beings.
The word to say superman in German is Obenmensch not Übermensch, but as we are supposed to be a German generals during the Second World War, I think it's historically correct to use Übermensch.

No, "Obenmensch" or "Obermensch" is not a common German term. The Nazis also didn't use the term Übermensch much. Instead, they referred to themselves as Herrenmenschen, to the German people as Herrenrasse or Herrenvolk, i.e. the "master race" ("Herr" = master, lord). The historical correct term would therefore be one of those. That said, there should be no (positive) references to such racist Nazi terms in this game..

What if you could rename your heroes to whatever you wished?

Just like you can rename your units. I know this can be done if you go into the game files, but I mean making it part of the game.
