sure by using this line of thought, World of Tanks or other MMOs would have been tremendously successful like they have.Kerensky wrote: ↑Mon Mar 30, 2020 8:54 pm If you're looking for a multiplayer community, I don't think it's reasonable to expect to find them in game anymore. Forums, discord, and steam are way more advanced than anything they could hope to implement in game (in every single game that ever gets made). These are dedicated places for communication, friending, and arranging matches. How and why would any game dev take the time to develop more systems than these dedicated applications who's sole purpose is to handle these systems?
Personally, I'm glad we got in game chat. It's exactly what is needed on the fundamental level. If you want to go further, there are ample the resources outside of the game.

There is currently very little incentive for me to open Panzer Corps and play it, except the novelty. After 10 games beating the crap out of new players (making them probably quitting the MP scene as well), I will just quit and never come back just like Panzer Corps 1.

I think it's "Light Track v2" which really captures the sense of optimism combined with a looming expectation of disaster, which is so fitting for the time. Give your music person a pat on the back for this one .

I'm guessing you've been under "Lock Down" for a while
Kerensky your statement shows to me, that you do not take multiplayer as a serious part of the game. Matchmaking is a critical part of multiplayer business. If you are not able to deal with it, PC2 will give away a lot potential to become a really good multiplayer game. Multiplayer does need more than a forum (without a multiplayer section by the way). As example every simple chess app on your mobile comes with an ELO ladder, to choose proper opponents. This is really easy to implement. It helps players to get an estimation about there opponent and it gives the opportunity to challenge someone playing on the same level. In addition climbing up a ladder is a basic motivation to play. So you are not able to implement something like that? Your statement above does not promote PC2 multiplayer!Kerensky wrote: ↑Mon Mar 30, 2020 8:54 pm If you're looking for a multiplayer community, I don't think it's reasonable to expect to find them in game anymore. I have no idea where to find them and if its not officially baked into the game interface don't except others to find it.
Is that really such a good example? World of Tanks is very successful, as is World of Warcraft. Compare that to the vast majority of utterly dead MMO games that have completely ceased all operations and server support to these titanic successes.... I'm not sure I understood your point.Mordan wrote: ↑Tue Mar 31, 2020 10:40 am sure by using this line of thought, World of Tanks or other MMOs would have been tremendously successful like they have.

You can think that, but I would feel compelled to correct you. I much prefer the finely tuned, purpose built balanced multiplayer maps of PZC and PZC2 over the mismatched campaign scenario ports of the past.Gwaylare wrote: ↑Tue Mar 31, 2020 8:56 pm Kerensky your statement shows to me, that you do not take multiplayer as a serious part of the game. For me quite the same as Mordan said is true. I joined PC in 2011 and played multiplayer till of March 2013. Then I joined for Goose great tournament in 2018 again and left after that. Thank you Goose for creating multiplayer content we are missing.
It was vital. It lacked support of sorts. It wasn't supposed to cross PzC2 in time schedule - all understandable
This is one of the reasons to never invest in software as an entrepreneur.
If it was so simple, I would happily volunteer my own time to implement. But it's far beyond my ability. Anything I can't do myself, I consider to not be simple. Because it requires specialized knowledge and effort of another individual. Another individual's time and energy and effort.
I would point out that WOT has it's own Discord channel and if you want to "speak" with a developer from Wargaming's mothership, Reddit is the place to find them. WG embraces these platforms as that is where the gamers are. Want to find players to division up? Discord.Kerensky wrote: ↑Tue Mar 31, 2020 9:28 pmIs that really such a good example? Also.
Do you like USB, or do you like having to use a different port for every device you plug into your computer. Serial keyboard port, parallel printer port, stereo in, microphone, and so on. Or do you plug USB devices into a universal port?
Dedicated communities like Discord and Reddit (and the forum) are USB. They're kinda new, but catching on. Except forums, they've been around a while heh. Point is each game trying to develop their own internal multiplayer interfaces is like trying to make a specialized aspect of the game when generalized aspects of the game already exist on other dedicated platforms.
You might think it's a huge difference, but I don't. It's a matter of software compared to hardware. Software has come with such ease of access, I think we underestimate 'just plug chat interface/lobbies/friendslists' into everything, it's easy!
Pulling up the sleeves is no solution...
Haven't watched Joe for almost ten years. He has surpassed Goering level as I see. Great outfit...Kerensky wrote: ↑Tue Mar 31, 2020 11:46 pm Personally, I'm thrilled we have as much MP as we do in Panzer Corps 2. I'm just glad the option exists to play other people over the internet, do it on well balanced maps, and also have that sweet new feature to play it in True Online mode where both players are connected to the game at the same time instead of always going through PBEM systems. Angry Joe and Other Joe enjoyed the shit out of his MP game with Alex (not our Alex, their Alex) and I got a huge kick out of watching it.
I have to put food dry ice under my 4 years old lap top to cool it off.. it works pretty well. but that's the same for other games, even more WOT.. the game totally breaks without external cooling dry ice from the freezer.
Sorry Kerensky I was just referring on your statement before, not on your work in total. I enjoyed your balanced maps in PC already and I do so in PC2, that is really great work. Overall PC2 is a great game for multiplayer within the turned based engine, just the hull around do only contain the absolutly necessary functions, but this hull is very important as well. Hey if your opponent surrenders in his turn you get not even an information about, the game is just gone, or did I miss anything. Multiplayer does thrives on participation and this depends on motivation.
Sure take your time, but mount a gun onto this Tiger.Kerensky wrote: ↑Tue Mar 31, 2020 9:32 pm It's easy to say something is simple to implement. Actually attaching a new system onto the mountain of existing systems, maybe not so much.
All I'm saying is give the Flashback Devs a break. They're working hard, but they can't grant everyone's wishes all at once.
I actively tried not to duplicate too many classic MP maps for the first batch of PZC2 maps. No matter how much I like Bzura or Hylan... it'll just be perceived as copy pasting old content into new game. I did bring two over, but one was rebuilt from the ground up and the other is very different with endless rain/no mud.
