Renaming of Heroes

Post by Ravihon »

I have looked different places, but could not find any option to rename heroes. Is it me or is there no such option?

It was something that I proposed before the release, but no, you cannot rename your heroes.

Indeed, it's not currently possible, but we'll add it. It's a very meaningful feature.

Is there a list of heroes anywhere that you can get right now?

If you mean hero traits, you can find them here: viewtopic.php?f=464&t=97729

If you mean the actual names, then no, cause the names are randomly generated.

I was wondering if I had missed the implementation of that feature as mentioned by Rudankort or is this not possible yet? If not is there a work around in the save file or so?

that's a great list of Traits and Heroes. can't believe the Heroes I've never received. are certain Heroes reserved for the more advanced games?

Certain General Traits remove heroes with the same effect from the pre-generated hero list. Other than that, it is purely random what you get and what you don't.

For example, you won't get a Consolidator hero if you play with No Overstrength, and you won't get an Aggressive Deployment hero if you play with the general trait of the same name. With the latest patch, you will not get a Scavenger hero if you are playing with Trophies of War.

If you are in the habit of changing general traits in between DLCs, then you'll see some interesting effects. For example, lets say you had an artillery unit at 20 strength with a Consolidator hero, it will stay and reinforce to 20 strength if you switch to No Overstrength. However, you will not be able to adjust its strength during the DLC. In contrast, the Scavenger hero continues to function with the Trophies of War trait, so those units will continue to capture 4x the enemy equipment. Of course, the developers might change that in another patch or update.

In the Content/Data folder there are 2 files; 'Names' & 'Surnames'.
The names are organized via nationalities.
You should be able to edit & or add to those lists to allow for more names to be generated.
I noticed there was no 'Patton', for example, per the 'US'.
Well, that can be changed...still randomly generated, unfortunately.
Unless, of course one deleted all the names per a certain nationality & forced the issue for all to have the same surname. :)

Still nothing? Ghosting?
Is this something you could implement via DLC or a hotfix?
Or is it too expensive to program or way to complicated to involve it?
